Conversations with Donors: The Key to Success

Join Janice as she shares her knowledge and expertise gained from many years in the charitable sector. In this session, Janice will provide the rationale, process and tips for you to have insightful and productive conversations with donors. Janice will also engage you in an exercise to apply what you’ve learned so that you will have the confidence to get out there and effectively engage with your donors.

  • How to have meaningful conversations with donors that will enhance their relationship with you and your organization

Janice Loomer Margolis

Philanthropy Advisor

Janice Loomer Margolis is a Philanthropy Advisor with thirty years in the charities field.  She has held leadership positions with community foundations, environmental, health care and educational charities and has worked with hundreds of donors and donor families to carry out their charitable interests.  As well, she has practiced law in the areas of corporate law for charities, tax-planned charitable giving and wills and estates.  She now facilitates and empowers families, couples and individuals to articulate their values, motivations, interests and desired impacts and transform them into practical, fulfilling and measurable giving plans. 

Janice is an accomplished teacher of fundraising tools and strategy, particularly for major and planned gifts.  She is a faculty member for the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP) courses.  She is a leader in the philanthropic sector as a member of the CAGP Government Relations and the Education Committees and has served as Chair of the National Board of CAGP, President of the Vancouver Estate Planning Council and member of the Imagine Canada Advisory Council. She is also a proud “Friend of CAGP”.
