This presentation will outline the main dimensions, the overall research program and the methodology of co-production of knowledge of a pan Canadian research program (2018-2024) that Peter Elson and Jean Marc Fontan are leading. The project, recently funded by the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), will explore the Canadian foundation landscape and the influence of grantmaking foundations on social inequities and environmental issues (2018-2024). The project involves a consortium of twenty-nine partners and fifty-six researchers, including researchers from Canada, Europe, Latin America and United-Sates. Partners are mainly from the philanthropic sector, including four Canadians universities. The presentation will draw attention to the importance, for fundraiser professionals, to have a good understanding of the grantmaking foundations landscape in Canada, keys issues and general impact of those organizations.
