RBC Foundation Bursaries & Scholarships
The AFP Greater Toronto Chapter recognizes the importance of creating educational opportunities for all fundraising professionals to attend Congress. For the second consecutive year, Congress is expanding its Bursary and Scholarship program, thanks to the generous support of RBC Foundation.
RBC Foundation is inspired to make a difference by supporting endeavours that strengthen the charitable sector. RBC Foundation believes in building partnerships with professional fundraisers in appreciation of the contribution they make to the health and well being of their communities. Its generous investment will assist individuals become more innovative, compete more strategically, and rethink best practices.
The AFP Greater Toronto Chapter is also pleased to offer opportunities for delegates to attend Congress 2007 through the Marc Chayer Scholarship in Direct Response and the Steve Biggs Scholarship in Donor Relations.

Financial Aid Bursaries
RBC Foundation is pleased to enable individuals to attend Congress 2007 who might otherwise be prevented from attending due to financial constraints. Applicats are eligible to be considered for the RBC Bursary program if applicants:
- have worked in a registered Canadian charity for a minimum of one year;
- work in an organization with less than $1,000,000 per year fundraising revenues (excluding United Way and government funds);
- spend at least 20% of their time fundraising and have fundraising as a primary job responsibility;
- have not received a bursary from AFP within the last five years;
- submit their application by the established deadline; and
- submit only one application per organization (national organizations with multiple regional offices excepted).

MARC CHAYER SCHOLARSHIP
The Marc Chayer Scholarship was established by the AFP Greater Toronto Chapter to honour Marc Chayer, former Vice President of CanadaDirect, who passed away in March 2002. The scholarship is named in his memory and in recognition of his contribution, dedication, and passion for the people he served in the fundraising field. A leader in direct response annual giving since 1985, CanadaDirect builds relationships from the bottom up through direct mail, telemarketing, and online services. Marc and his team believed in AFP and in the delivering of “gold standard excellence” in professional development and were one of the first companies to back the Chapter when it launched its first Congress.

STEVE BIGGS SCHOLARSHIP
The Steve Biggs Scholarship was established by the AFP Greater Toronto Chapter to honour Steve Biggs, former President/Owner of Behrends Bronze Inc., who passed away in July 2002. The scholarship is named in his memory and in recognition of his contribution, dedication, and passion for the people he served in the fundraising field. Since 1952, Behrends Bronze has been designing and manufacturing donor recognition systems, plaques, and donor handouts for organizations across Canada. Steve and his team believed in AFP and in the delivering of “gold standard excellence” in professional development and were one of the first companies to back the Chapter when it launched its first Congress. Steve’s involvement in the many social activities connected with past Congresses exemplified his leadership characteristics, which impacted the successes of many Congresses.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR BURSARIES & SCHOLARSHIPS
Applicants must submit a completed Congress 2007 Bursary Application form to the Congress 2007 Bursary Selection Committee c/o the AFP Greater Toronto Chapter by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2007.
The Congress 2007 Bursary Selection Committee will review all eligible applications and inform all applicants of its decision by Monday, October 22, 2007.
Bursary and scholarship recipients will be required to attend the entire three-day Congress, November 13-15, 2007.
