RBC Foundation Bursary Program
AFP Congress is one of the best fundraising conferences in the world! Congress offers three days of intensive education and stimulating discussion that will provide you with new techniques and thinking to tackle the challenges and opportunities you and your organization face.
To foster the professional development of individuals who work in agencies raising $1,000,000 or less per year (excluding government/United Way funding), the AFP Greater Toronto Chapter offers Congress bursaries to those who would benefit from the opportunity to learn best practices from the world’s most respected fundraisers, network with colleagues from across Canada, and develop key professional skills.
Bursaries are made possible through the support of the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy – Canada and the contribution of RBC Foundation.
RBC Foundation is inspired to make a difference by supporting endeavours that strengthen the charitable sector. RBC Foundation believes in building partnerships with professional fundraisers in appreciation of the contribution they make to the health and well-being of their communities. Its generous investment will assist individuals innovate, compete more strategically, and rethink best practices.
In addition to a full Congress registration, some bursaries will include airfare and/or hotel accommodations.
Qualifications
RBC Foundation is pleased to enable individuals to attend Congress 2009 who might otherwise be prevented from attending due to financial constraints. You are eligible to be considered for the RBC Bursary program if you:

Have fundraising as one of your primary responsibilities spending a minimum of 20% of your time in fundraising activities

Have not received an individual Bursary from AFP Greater Toronto Chapter within the last years

Submit Bursary application form in a timely manner

Submit only one application per organization. (Exceptions may be made for national organizations, with multiple regional offices.)

Currently work and are compensated in a registered Canadian charity.

Work in an agency with fundraising revenues of $1,000,000 or less (excluding government/United Way funding).
Application Procedure
Please tell us more about how you would benefit from attending Congress. Please submit a typed application by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7th to be considered.
Recipients of bursaries will be required to attend the entire three-day Congress, November 30 – December 2, 2009.
The Congress 2009 Bursary Selection Committee will review all eligible applications and inform all applicants of its decision by Friday, October 23, 2009.
