RBC Foundation Bursary Program



AFP Congress is one of the best fundraising conferences in the world! Congress offers three days of intensive education that will provide you with new techniques and thinking to tackle the challenges and opportunities you and your organization face.

 

The AFP Greater Toronto Chapter recognizes the importance for all fundraising professionals to attend Congress as a professional development opportunity.  Bursaries are given to individuals who would benefit from the opportunity to learn best practices from the world’s most respected fundraisers, network with colleagues from across Canada and develop key professional skills.

 

RBC Foundation is inspired to make a difference by supporting endeavours strengthening the charitable sector. RBC Foundation believes in building partnerships with professional fundraisers in appreciation of the contribution they make to the health and well being of their communities. Its generous investment will assist individuals innovate, compete more strategically, and rethink best practices.

 

To foster the professional development of individuals who work in agencies raising $1,000,000 or less per year (excluding government/United Way funding), the AFP Greater Toronto Chapter offers bursaries to attend Congress.  Some bursaries will include airfare and hotel accommodations.

 

Bursaries and Scholarships are made possible through the support of the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy – Canada and the contribution of RBC Foundation.

 

Qualifications

 

RBC Foundation is pleased to enable individuals to attend Congress 2010 who might otherwise be prevented from attending due to financial constraints. You are eligible to be considered for the RBC Bursary program if you:

  • Have fundraising as one of your primary responsibilities spending a minimum of 20% of your time in fundraising activities
  • Have not received an individual Bursary from AFP Greater Toronto Chapter within the last 5 years
  • Submit Bursary application form in a timely manner
  • Submit only one application per organization. (Exceptions may be made for national organizations, with multiple regional offices)
  • Currently work and are compensated in a registered Canadian charity
  • Work in an agency with fundraising revenues of $1,000,000 or less (excluding government/United Way funding) 

Application Procedure

 

Please submit typed applications to cquigley@afptoronto.org by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday October 14th to be considered. Recipients of bursaries will be required to attend the entire three day Congress, November 30 – December 2, 2010.

 

The Congress 2009 Bursary Selection Committee will review all eligible applications and inform all applicants of its decision by Monday, October 25th, 2010.
