Anthony Keating Named Recipient of AFP Greater Toronto Chapter's 2010 New Fundraising Professional Award

Toronto, ON – The Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Toronto Chapter is pleased to announce that Anthony Keating, National Manager, Major and Annual Gifts of Kids Help Phone, has been named the recipient of the 2010 New Fundraising Professional Award. Anthony Keating was selected to receive this prestigious award, for demonstrating outstanding commitment to advancing a culture of philanthropy built on principles of innovation, diversification and long-term sustainability. His fundraising achievements at Kids Help Phone have maximized access to anonymous and confidential professional counselling, referrals and information by young people around the country.
Under Anthony Keating’s leadership, Kids Help Phone, Canada’s leading youth counselling service, was able to implement its first online solicitation project in 2009. The Buy a Kid Some Time campaign generated 2.5 times the amount of revenue generated in the prior year and its success resulted in the allocation of increased investment in the organization’s e-philanthropy strategy. Anthony’s management of the direct mail program has resulted in consistent overachievement of budget targets - by 35% in 2008, 17% in 2009 and currently 18% in 2010. He has successfully managed relationship with foundations, individuals and corporations and has taken a lead role in developing a donor centric communication strategy, incorporating key objectives related to donor stewardship and cultivation.
Prior to joining Kids Help Phone, Anthony was a Director of Development at the Boys and Girl’s Club of St. John’s. He has been an active member of AFP since 2006, and is currently a member of the AFP Greater Toronto Chapter Congress Education Committee. Anthony also serves on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Clubs of St. John’s.
Established in 2001, the AFP Greater Toronto Chapter New Fundraising Professional Award recognizes a full-time fundraising professional who has displayed exceptional talent and demonstrated outstanding achievement early in his/her career. The recipient has between two and five years of experience in fundraising and is selected through submissions from Chapter members. The award encompasses career achievements, long and short term career objectives, personal volunteer service and a commitment to the profession.
