The Position Mandate:
We are seeking a dynamic, motivated individual with a demonstrated track record in fundraising at the Major Gifts Level and 3-4 years experience in Planned Giving:
- To handle all aspects of the Planned Giving program to achieve the financial goals established by the Foundation Board;
- To increase the culture of Planned Giving at Baycrest
- To develop and implement a comprehensive stewardship plan for planned giving donors at all levels;
- To develop and implement initiatives to identify, cultivate and solicit gifts of $10,000++;
- To be a part of the Development Team, working collaboratively with support staff, other D.O.’s as well as members of the Baycrest staff.
Responsibilities:
- To efficiently manage the Planned Giving program including all documentation and estate matters, insurance policies and annuities;
- To identify and meet with prospective planned gift donors, their families and advisors and develop customized solicitation plans;
- To identify, solicit and close major gifts at $10,000+ level;
- To maintain close relationships with about 100 + donors by addressing any questions/concerns, and communicating with them on a regular basis;
- To develop and implement innovative initiatives for increasing fundraising and planned giving potential while staying informed of tax aspects of all types of charitable giving and relevant CRA rulings;
- To participate in the development and adherence of annual plans and budgets;
- To write and maintain all correspondence to donors and prospects, in accordance with Foundation procedures.
Competencies:
- Excellent understanding of complex planned giving vehicles such as bequests, CRT’s, annuities, gifts of insurance etc.;
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced, professional environment;
- Passion for Baycrest’s vision and values and pride in our achievements;
- Comfortable and knowledgeable dealing with tax, legal, and financial terms and issues;
- Takes genuine pleasure in people and shows interest in their lives and charitable aspirations;
- Ability to make “cold calls” on donors and prospective donors;
- Ability to inspire confidence and trust with donors and prospective donors, as well as commitment to the mission of Baycrest;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to speak in public;
- Excellent time management skills;
- Mature judgment and sensitivity in working with middle to high-net worth donors, their families, and advisors.
