Director - Development and Communications - Ontario Zone
Posted date: Apr 28, 2008
Closing date: May 23, 2008
A nationwide, community-based, registered charity, CNIB is committed to research, public education, vision health, and most importantly, providing hope for all Canadians affected by vision loss. CNIB provides the services and support necessary for people in every region in Canada to enjoy a good quality of life while living with vision loss. Recognized as experts in vision health, CNIB has been making profound differences in the lives of Canadians since its inception in 1918. Today, CNIB aspires to be the leader in promoting vision health and enhancing independence for people with vision loss.
Two years ago, CNIB underwent a re-branding and visioning shift that directed the organizational focus to three key pillars – Services, Advocacy and Research. With a current mandate to move this vision forward, an extensive audit was completed in Ontario and, as a result of its recommendations, fund development activity in Ontario has recently been restructured to focus on areas across the province that can best support this development. Currently four of the organization’s six provincial regions – the Greater Toronto Area, Eastern Ontario, Southwestern Ontario and Northern Ontario – have been set up with Fund Development Teams.
This is a very exciting time for the organization and for those who are a part of it. CNIB is looking for an individual with the skill set and leadership confidence required to move the fund development staff and volunteers forward within this new structure and to act as a catalyst for change and new direction. To assist in the realization of this vision, the organization is seeking an outstanding development professional to build and grow a comprehensive fund development program with a focus on supporting community fund development, corporate and major gift programs, and gaming revenue.
In this exciting position, you will be responsible for leading the organization to the next level in its fund development activity within Ontario. Your track record of achievement has been built on a minimum of ten years demonstrated success in fund development, with a portion of this time spent in an integrated, multi-tier charitable setting. In addition to experience in charitable organization management, you have particular expertise in supporting regional community development, developing new marketing thrusts, major/planned giving activities, and creative corporate sponsorship and partnership alliances.
Your superb interpersonal and leadership talent will come into play as you build and maintain strong relationships within both the provincial office and the Regions, and while you build staff and donor involvement, interest and support. As a mentor and cheerleader for the fundraising staff and volunteers, you will provide direction and coaching to enable individuals and teams to achieve success.
If you thrive on working in a collaborative, energetic environment and would like to embrace the opportunity to build a plan and make your mark on leveraging new directions within an organization, then this is an ideal opportunity for you!
