Mr. Gordon H. Durnan, FAHP, CFRE

Mr. Durnan began his career with the Red Cross holding a variety of positions. He was later recruited to York Central Hospital foundation in 1977, and became one of the first managing fund development directors hired by a community hospital.

In the early days of health care fund raising, Mr. Durnan established one of the most successful programs in the country. He worked closely with the volunteer board of directors and the community, he established a successful program which achived the $1 million annual goal in even less time than it took with York Central Hospital Foundation.

He received his Certified Fund Raising Executive designation in 1993 as one of the first three Canadians to write the exam and has served on the NSFRE Board from 1980 to 1982.

He is also one of the founders of the Association of Health Care Philanthropy's Region XIII for Canadian and other members outside the U.S. In 1987, he joined the ranks of those at the very top of his profession by becoming the first Canadian to be awarded the Fellows status in the Association for Health Care Philanthropy.
