Mr.Ted Garrard
Ted's fundraising success is attributed to his ability to build effective volunteer donor relationships, and leverage those relationships to benefit a higher cause. This is the quintessential definition of an outstanding fund raising executive.
Mr. Garrard is Vice President (External) for The University of Western Ontario, one of Canada's leading teaching and research institutions. It's alumni base of 150,000 is the second largest in Canada. Mr Garrard directs all of The University of Western Ontario's fund raising, alumni relations, advancement, communications and public affairs, the McIntosh Gallery, ceremonies and activities. Since Mr. Garrard's arrival at he University of Western Ontario on January 1, 1996, annual contributions and pledges have climbed from $12 million to $40 million. His recent reorganization of the External portfolio, combining fund raising and friendraising efforts, completed before his one year anniversary, has achieved an effective mix of expertise, an improved exchange of information and additional opportunities for staff to support each other.
From 1982 until 1995 Mr. Garrard served the United Way of Greater Toronto in a number of capacities including Director of Research, Director of Marketing and Communications and Campaign Director. His contributions include increasing annual fund raising from $21 million to $51 million and as Campaign Director, Mr. Garrard raised more than $200 million. Mr. Garrard serves on a number of charitable boards and committees and he continues to be an active volunteer for United Way.
