Mr. Jack E. Sinclair

Mr. Jack Sinclair, retired Executive Vice President, Bell Canada, is the recipient of the 1998 Outstanding Volunteer Award.

In March 1969, Mr. Sinclair began what would become a lifelong volunteer career with Scouts Canada, ultimately receiving their highest honour, that of Silver Wolf. He has been the key volunteer implementing fund raising programs at the national level, involving business leaders and raising corporate dollars for scouting ever since.

As President, Director and Officer of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada from 1987 to 1987, Jack Sinclair provided the leadership necessary to launch a corporate campaign which is now the basis of the Society's major gift/planned giving program.

Jack Sinclair has lent his talent and leadership to the Salvation Army for more than a decade. In his capacity as Member and Chair of a variety of Boards, he has been influential in determining the success of the Salvation Army fund raising and has enthusiastically recruited others to serve and advise. As Chair of the 1996 and 1997 Toronto Red Shield Appeal, Mr. Sinclair not only achieved, but surpassed the goal of $8.5 million each year.

A life member of Telephone Pioneers, a Bell Canada Employees' Organization, Mr. Sinclair played a key role in their community service. He secured and maintained executive support for Pioneering, enabling employees to raise thousands of dollars for the hearing impaired, the visually handicapped and a host of other projects.

Jack Sinclair is a doer. He brings the same drive and determination to his volunteering activities as he did to his business ones in a long and successful career. The University of Waterloo, Pro-Action, The Concerned Kids, and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce are other organizations that have benefited from Jack's motivation and enthusiasm.

Jack Sinclair enjoys making a difference. He exemplifies the true spirit of volunteering. His generosity, dedication and extraordinary commitment to philanthropic activity have played and integral role in the betterment of our community.
