Mr. Daniel W. King

Dan King's name is synonymous not only with professional fund raising but also with integrity, leadership, accountability and stewardship. He has enjoyed a long and distinguished career which has spanned the growth of fund raising and philanthropy in Canada over the past two and a half decades. He has been a leader in the improvement of professionals practice through education and a pioneer in the encouragement of health care philanthropy.

Dan was one of the first in Canada to develop expertise in in the organization and management of public foundations. His skill in capital campaign management and major gifts development are well known. He has a significant track record of personal fundraising success, raising more than $75 million for capital development, research and education. He has been a supportive and encouraging to many who are new to the field.

Recently appointed Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer for Variety, The Children's Charity, Dan spent more than 20 years in the health care field.

His business career includes appointments as founding Executive Director, The Sunnybrook Crown Foundation; founding Director of Development, Scarborough General Hospital Foundation; and National Director of Public Relations, The Canadian Red Cross.

Dan is a tireless volunteer providing leadership to both not-for-profit organizations and professional associations. He restructured the Toronto chapter of the *NSFRE, introduced the Philanthropy Awards program and the annual national Congress, and initiated the establishment of the NSFRE Foundation. He has been a leader with the Association of Health Care Philanthropy, currently serving as treasurer of the Canadian Foundation, and was a founding member of the International Academic Forum. He was the founding Chairman of the Rosalie Hall Foundation.

Dan is also an active consultant to various not-for-profit organizations and has wide experience both in Canada and the USA as a speaker and seminar leader.
