Ann Andrusyszyn

Development Officer, Barrie Public Library

This Award was created in 2001 by the AFP Greater Toronto Chapter to recognize an outstanding new fundraising professional. The Award is designed to salute individuals who have displayed exceptional talent and demonstrated outstanding achievement as they set out on a career as a fundraising professional. It is hoped the award will encourage the recipients and their professional colleagues to continue striving for excellence as their careers develop.

After 20 years in library services, Ann found herself gradually doing more and more public relations and fundraising. Ann returned to school, graduating with Honours from the Fundraising and Resource Development programme at Georgian College in 2001.

Upon graduation, Ann put her skills to use for the Barrie Public Library and for the community. Ann has worked diligently to implement an integrated development program for the Library, and has been leading the Library staff and Board in preparing the groundwork for their upcoming capital campaign.

Ann’s leadership abilities and knowledge of fundraising and marketing have also been recognized by others through invitations to speak at provincial and national conferences, such as CAGP and the 2004 Ontario Library Association Super Conference.

Ann willingly shares her expertise with other organizations, and believes that raising the bar for philanthropy will result in increased revenues and goodwill for all organizations. She volunteers with numerous organizations, such as the Toronto Symphony Volunteer Committee and the Planned Giving Counsel of Simcoe County.

Ann joined AFP in 2001 when she was at Georgian College, recognizing the need for ethics and standards to be the bedrock for fundraisers. Currently, she is actively working towards obtaining her CFRE certification.
