Congress 2010 Speaker Call for Interest

January 28, 2010

Hard to believe we are almost at the end of January.  Feels like Congress just ended and yet it’s almost been two full months since a group of delegates, dedicated partners and exhibitors gathered.

We have been fortunate to be receiving many call for interest (CFI) submissions.  I’m also enjoying speaking to many potential presenters who have been bouncing numerous creative ideas off me.  Due to the early announcement of this year's CFI, we have decided to extend the deadline to Thursday, February 4th at 9am.

This year's conference will take place November 29 – December 1, 2010. It is a special Congress, as we will be celebrating AFP’s 50th Anniversary serving the sector.  For Congress 2010, we are especially interested in hearing from speakers with innovative approaches to fundraising; governance and organizational practices, human resources, media and government relations and other areas where new models are driving change in practice in our sector.

Congress is a world-class learning experience, which requires the best and brightest leaders to come prepared to share experiences, perspectives and knowledge with more the than 900 delegates who will gather in Toronto next year to learn. Educational sessions will be shared at three levels:

  •  GREEN - practical fundraising
  • YELLOW - strategic fundraising
  • RED - advanced leadership

3 QUICK TIPS TO A BETTER CALL FOR INTEREST SUBMISSION:

1. Direct your session to one audience – don’t try to be all things to all people.  If it’s a

"how to" its a green session, if it’s a practical session with some skills building it’s a

yellow session, if it’s a strategic or visioning type session it’s likely a red session.

2. When writing your session description – make it punchy.  Think of this as your main

sales/marketing piece to draw people to your session so make it exciting to read.

3. Identify clear learning outcomes – we’ve provided you with a handy link, please use

it. It’s important for our delegates to understand what they will walk away learning

    from your session.

Please download the Call for Interest Form and submit it by email to Chris Ganowski: events@afptoronto.org  or by fax to the AFP Greater Toronto office: 416-941-9013. The NEW deadline for submissions Thursday, February 4th at 9 a.m.

Share your experiences, challenges, and fresh approaches with fellow professionals and be a part of driving continued success in our world-class educational experience. I encourage you to reach out to either me at tlittle@inspireinc.ca, our Education Chair, or Maria Dyck at dyckm@smh.toronto.on.ca. We would be happy to discuss your idea or provide you with feedback on your CFI before you submit it.

Best regards,
