Job Description

London Health Sciences Foundation (LHSF) is the fundraising organization that supports London Health Sciences Centre’s strategic initiatives to foster excellence in patient-centred care, education, research and innovation. LHSF has embarked on a fundraising campaign in support of these core initiatives, with the goal of raising $200 million – the largest hospital campaign ever in Southwestern Ontario. To date, LHSF has successfully inspired close to $190 million and will soon be celebrating the achievement of their fundraising goal while developing a plan for the future. It is within this context that it is seeking a new Director of Development.

Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Development Officer, the Director of Development role is vital to the success of London Health Sciences Foundation’s planned, major and mid-level fundraising programs. The Director will lead a dedicated team of fundraising professionals who have responsibility for planned giving, major giving and mid-level giving across the areas of care of cancer, cardiology, brain health, women’s health and orthopedics. In addition to providing leadership for this team of seven (7) direct reports, the Director will be responsible for building relationships and securing support from their own donor portfolio and pipeline.

As an ideal candidate, you are a highly respected and proven fundraiser with successful and progressive experience in fund development roles, securing gifts at the $50,000 level and above, and navigating the changing landscape of philanthropy in Canada. You have outstanding communications skills, the interest and aptitude to mentor and coach, to inspire and lead, and to work with senior level volunteers. You will use these skills to foster effective partnerships externally in the community and internally with the hospital and its physicians, researchers, staff and leadership team and to develop revenue generation plans and secure sources of sustainable funding that ensure both LHSC’s and LHSF’s short and long-term success.
