We are seeking a charismatic Donor Relations Manager to join our Canadian office located in Toronto. The office currently has over 140,000 supporters across Canada and revenues of approximately $6 million. This is a dynamic and critical role, responsible for the ongoing implementation of strategic donor relations that deliver meaningful benefits for high value, monthly and planned giving donors. The Donor Relations Manager will also provide support to the major donor program including appreciation events, cultivation and research.

Reporting to the Director of Development and working closely with key members of the fundraising and communications teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for using creative tactics, grounded in strong analysis to increase revenue from high value donors, monthly donors and planned giving. S/he will have at least 5 years of experience working within the non-profit sector; preferably within these above mentioned channels.


  • At least 5 years’ experience in related fundraising roles preferably with a solid mix of monthly giving, planned giving and high value donor ($500 - $9,999) experience

  • Proven experience managing a planned giving program, securing gifts as well as managing relationships and stewarding donors at $500+ level

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Suite of products including Photoshop and InDesign along with Project/program management experience in a non-profit organization is preferable

  • Must be highly organized and capable of managing a substantial work load in a fast paced, dynamic environment

Responsibilities include

  • Leads the development of short term and long term strategies for monthly, high value and planned giving programs that significantly increases monthly revenue, legacy pledgers and prospects (and subsequently future revenues) and high value donor revenues year over year

  • Regularly monitors and evaluates program and campaign results and activities to ensure that fundraising goals are being met

  • Manages the Protector’s Circle program including upgrading prospects and re-engaging, recognizing and stewarding $500+ donors

  • Designs, writes copy for and implements all high value communications including e-communications, mailings, proposals and reports

  • Researches, identifies and secures new planned giving pledgers and prospects through various channels

  • Oversees legal aspects of the planned giving program including responding to correspondence from legal representatives, coordinating signed documentation and updating the status files

  • Stewards prospects and existing planned giving donors through regular contact and key communication touch points to ensure a consistent, timely, donor-centered approach

  • Oversees the monthly donor journey process from beginning to end including identifying communications donors are to receive, how communications are deployed and ensuring journey is streamlined and operating correctly

  • Conducts prospect research projects that pertain to Individuals, Trusts and Foundations or Corporations
