Communications Officer

Contract Position

Branksome Hall is seeking a talented and driven communications and marketing generalist, who has a passion for news and writing, as well as a great eye for online and print design. This is a full-time, contract position commencing in April 2017 to May/June 2018.   
 
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Communications Officer is responsible for implementing plans to promote and enhance Branksome Hall’s reputation and brand. The Officer must be a well-rounded, versatile writer that produces high-quality marketing and communications materials – newsletters, publications, online content, news releases, feature stories, speaking notes and speeches, brochures and other promotional materials. The Officer will also develop online content to drive conversations and engagement through Branksome’s social media channels, digital communications and website.
 
Managing the day-to-day relationships with vendors and agencies, the Officer must be highly organized and able to coordinate the production of publications, advertising, and photo and video shoots.  
 
You must thrive in a small, fast-paced team with a big mandate. You will work equally well independently or as part of a team. Knowledge of the independent school sector is an advantage. 
 
Required Qualifications and Experience: 
 
Education:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in related field (English, journalism, communications, etc.) 
 
Experience:
  • Three to five years’ experience in a communications-related position, preferably in an education setting.
  • Experience in writing stories in a range of styles in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
