Senior Coordinator, Development Writing & Stewardship

The Senior Coordinator, Development Writing & Stewardship is responsible for crafting compelling fundraising communications to support the acquisition and stewardship of individual donors (at a major and annual level), as well as foundation and corporate grant proposals. They will be responsible for fulfilling a wide variety of writing assignments, working across the Fundraising and Communications team. Assignments will include: impact reports, pitch decks, grant and proposal writing, stewardship letters and email cycles, website pieces and creation of key fundraising copy.

The Senior Coordinator, Development Writing & Stewardship will participate in annual strategic planning and play an important role in the creation of materials that support fundraising efforts. They will be an integral member of a team of fundraisers.

This is a new, deadline-driven role for a professional and engaged self-starter with a wide range of research, writing, and relationship management skills. The Senior Coordinator, Development Writing & Stewardship will be an inspired storyteller, who can synthesize complex social innovation and international development information and translate it into a wide variety of compelling and impactful donor-centric communications and proposals.


This role is a hybrid role between our Development/Partnerships and Annual Giving team. You will be an integral team member supporting continued revenue growth through grants and donations. Your primary responsibilities include:

Grant/Proposal Writing and Prospect Research

  • Works closely with the Partnerships team to support the creation of compelling sponsorship/partnership proposals and stewardship materials to fulfill partnership obligations;

  • Leads grant writing for corporate and foundation donor prospects.

  • Researches and develops pitch decks for foundations, grants and major donor meetings.

Donor Communications and Writing

  • Works in close collaboration with the Individual Giving and Mass Market team to develop targeted communications for prospective donors, including: proposals, online solicitation, stewardship reports, key messaging catalogues;

  • Develops inspiring stewardship communications for EWB impact areas.

  • Contributes to and leverages stories and activities from the editorial calendar planning process for fundraising and stewardship purposes.

Stewardship Communications

Project manages the donor communications cycle, which includes:

  • Leads efforts to establish a regular and engaging calendar of communications for individuals, corporate and foundation donors.
  • Collaborates with the Development Team to determine and execute on communications priorities.
  • Manages budget, developing content and working across teams to collaborate on finished products.
  • Produces impact reports that showcase donor dollars at work.
  • Sources content, drafts copy, and liaises with graphic designer to produce the bi-annual donor stewardship letter.


  • Post-secondary degree or an equivalent combination of formal training and experience.
  • 3+ years of work experience within a fundraising/business development team with a visible track record and demonstrated learning.
  • Passion for global issues, social enterprise/social innovation.
  • Impeccable written communication skills, with experience in formal grant writing, developing concept notes, and formal and informal stewardship writing.
