Our centralized/decentralized structure has tremendous potential for a dynamic approach to ambitious and sustainable fundraising growth.

As a key part of this strategy, the University of Waterloo is seeking an Associate Vice-President, Major and Principal Giving to lead sustainable pipeline and portfolio expansion with the central and decentralized teams. The AVP, Major and Principal Giving will facilitate, manage, and drive the Advancement activity of the President and Vice-Chancellor, as well as the Vice-President, Advancement, to attract significant philanthropic investments to the University of Waterloo. By working closely with all major and principal giving teams across the university, whether based in the faculties, colleges, or on the central team, the AVP, Major and Principal Giving will inspire and guide fundraising initiatives that engage a dynamic pipeline of current and potential donors.

As the ideal candidate, you possess extensive experience in philanthropy and advancement with a proven track record of fundraising achievement and success within an academic or academic health sciences centre environment. You have worked closely with a President, Vice-President, Dean and/or senior executive leaders and you are a true champion of the academic mission and its importance and value to the society. You have a clear, compelling, and persuasive communication style that moves relationships forward, and experience in managing and working within teams through a combination of leadership, collaboration, inspiration and empowerment.
