The Opportunity
We are seeking a Manager, Annual Giving to ensure the efficient and successful operation of University Advancement’s Annual Giving program with a strong focus on managing the operations of the student call centre. The successful candidate will work with the Director, Annual Giving to develop and execute operational plans for integrated annual giving campaigns with a focus on telephone fundraising, email and other channels where appropriate. You will monitor, analyze and report regularly on results and progress towards the meeting of performance objectives. You will manage all operations of our fully automated (CampusCall) telemarketing fundraising centre, including budget and staff recruitment, training and coordination. You will establish and communicate performance standards (i.e., the amount of money to be solicited) for a variety of donor prospects, develop and updates training manuals, caller scripts, briefing and fact sheets.

The Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be a skilled relationship builder with a passion for innovative, integrated annual giving. You have a post-secondary degree and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in annual giving with a proven track record in telephone fundraising. Your experience includes recruiting and managing telemarketers, including providing training to new callers, re-training returning callers on an ongoing basis, scheduling and delegating work assignments, monitoring and evaluating performance, taking disciplinary action and making termination decisions, as required. You have experience in managing staff and payroll, including determining individual employee wage rates (within a given range) and establishing appropriate incentive programs to reward performance.

Specific qualifications and experience required for the position:

  • Successful completion of a post-secondary degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience of annual giving and advancement/fundraising experience with a proven track record in telephone fundraising, including managing staff, performance management and a budget
