Reporting to the Director of Alumni Affairs, the Development Officer – Annual Giving is directly responsible for fundraising efforts related to priority philanthropic opportunities of the University and other strategic funding objectives as established by the President and Vice-President’s team (PVP). They provide leadership to develop a comprehensive, strategic and multi-target annual fundraising campaign. As a critical engagement opportunity for alumni, the Development Officer works closely with Alumni Affairs colleagues on effective communications and strategies to continuously build alumni engagement, participation rates, and the giving pipeline.
Through testing, analysis, development, and management of a multi-channel annual campaign plan, the incumbent plans and leads the implementation of segmented fundraising efforts with specific strategies to attract new donors, and retain and upgrade donors year over year, with a goal of building the leadership and major gift pipeline.
Areas of responsibility include research and prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and volunteer management. The Development Officer will assume responsibility for volunteer leadership, faculty and staff relationships, management of student fundraising staff, management of Alumni & Development Coordinator, and achieving annual fundraising goals. As both a technical and subject matter expert, this position maintains current knowledge in areas related to annual giving. The Development Officer plays a critical role in developing relationships on behalf of the University and in fostering a philanthropic culture at the University.
