Job Summary:

Your next career-defining opportunity is waiting for you… in downtown Oshawa.

Admit it. That’s not what you were expecting. But neither were we.

We are the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. Barely 15 years young and poised to become Canada’s leading STEM-focused, market-driven university.

We are not your traditional alma mater, nor is this your typical Advancement opportunity.

Join us and help accelerate our success in building the campus, collaborative learning environments, leading-edge research, integrated industry and community partnerships and specialized programs needed to equip our graduates to be leaders in tomorrow’s economy and change-makers in the world.

You can shape the future. Here. Now.

What are you waiting for?

In the role of Alumni Coordinator,

You will:

  • Develop and implement creative fundraising strategies and donor development programs to engage and involve our almost 16,000 alumni in meaningful ways.

  • Manage all aspects of the Alumni Relations office in order to advance the university’s goals and the strategic direction of the volunteer Alumni Association.

  • Plan, manage and evaluate all aspects of alumni activities such as class homecomings and chapter activities; alumni benefits, programs and services; and actively engage students with the Alumni Association.

  • Provide leadership and administrative support for the Alumni Association. You will recruit new members; create job descriptions; plan meetings; work closely with faculties, campus groups, volunteers and alumni to plan activities of benefit to university alumni; and represent the university at Alumni events.

  • Serve as managing editor and content coordinator of digital newsletter, web and social media, engaging alumni through these channels.

    Required Skills:

    You are:

  • An outstanding written and verbal communicator with strong ability to convey complex information in a variety of formats.

  • Able to analyze problems and develop solutions in situations where established guidelines do not exist, and limited counseling is available.

  • Able to take a longer-term strategic approach to service provision, recommending new products/services and delivery mechanisms that are consistent with alumni needs and the university’s strategic direction.

  • Able to work independently without day-to-day direction, while following the goals and strategic direction of the department.

  • Committed to building and growing strong, long-term relationships with university alumni.

  • Self-motivated, energetic and creative.

    Required Experience:

    You have:

    • A degree in business, management or related discipline, or equivalent education, and at least seven years of relevant job experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
    • Strong computer skills with ability to learn new programs (knowledge of Raiser’s Edge an asset).
    • Strong ability to multi-task, excellent organizational skills and a proven ability to meet established goals.
    • Experience working with volunteers.

    How to Apply:

Interested candidates should submit in electronic format, a covering letter and their resume through the link at the bottom of this posting. Applications will be accepted until July 24, 2017, or until a suitable candidate is found. We appreciate all applications received; however, only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from qualified women and men, including members of visible minorities, Aboriginal peoples and persons with disabilities.  All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.

UOIT respects people's different needs and therefore will take all reasonable steps to ensure accommodation for applicants where appropriate. If you require an accommodation to participate in the recruitment process, please notify the Human Resources Department.
