Senior Coordinator, Community Giving and Events

The Senior Coordinator, Community Giving and Events plans, promotes, supports and executes a calendar of fund-raising and awareness events for Prostate Cancer Canada.   Responsible for delivering signature events “Do It for Dads Walk/Run” and “Wake Up Call Breakfasts”, the Senior Coordinator develops event strategies with committees and identifies and coordinates with colleagues across the country.   With excellent communication and outreach abilities, the successful Senior Coordinator has exceptional project management skills and is able meet deadlines and goals at every milestone in order to deliver successful events.

This role will appeal to the experienced event and community outreach fundraiser who values an innovative and energetic team in an environment that encourages growth, new ideas and a non-hierarchical approach to relationship building.


Planning and Project Management

  • Develops and supports a National calendar of philanthropic events including but not limited to (Do it for Dads, Wake-Up Call)
  • Assists in the development of project plans, including budget, deliverables and resource requirements for each event or initiative
  • Consults and collaborates Marketing  team regarding project input for deadlines for creative material, marketing material and collateral
  • Consults and collaborates with Volunteer Engagement team regarding volunteer needs pre, during and post event requirements
  • Consults and collaborates with Mission team to ensure integration of PCC’s health promotion messaging through event delivery

Campaign Marketing and Metrics

  • Identifies media and other awareness promotion needs for development with the marketing team
  • Develops, in conjunction with National Director, marketing and material for potential event sponsorship or participation by corporate or community groups
  • Individually and in team, identifies and develops opportunities for local, regional, and National sponsorships or partnerships
  • Ensures website accurately reflects and describes PCC events
  • Monitors campaign performance, developing campaign tracking, analysis, reporting and measurement

Logistics and Execution

  • Obtains proposals or quotes for materials or services required for events in conjunction with National Director and team to negotiate best prices and delivery rates and times for Toronto and National fundraising special event campaigns.
  • Ensure sufficient human resources (staff, volunteers) are available for event roles
  • Problem solve and trouble shoot at event for donors, volunteers, supplies, participants and VIPs
  • Actively contribute to the Community Giving and Events portfolio by providing support through logistics tools and checklists to locations outside of Ontario

Data, Finance and Administration

  • Provide current and accurate information for relevant databases related to participants, donors, volunteers
  • Follow up event participation/donations as required through data base or email as required
  • Follow up supplier invoicing and reconciliation with Finance
  • Maintain an accurate budget and revenue report for each event for year over year comparisons



  • Event Logistics including location, volunteer needs and training, registration set and participant stewardship Volunteer selection and placement at Toronto and other National Events (Walk Run, Indy Cycling Challenge, Pants Off, Wake Up Call, Step- Up Challenge)

  • On site trouble shooting solutions

Post-secondary Education:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field (such as fund-raising, event management or volunteer management)


  • Membership in AFP (Association of Fund-raising Professionals) is an asset


  • 5 - 7 years in similar role
