Status: Full-Time

Hours: Monday to Friday Days (must be flexible to attend early morning and evening meetings and events)

About the Georgetown Hospital Foundation and Halton Healthcare Services

The Georgetown Hospital (GH) is one of the hospital sites of the Halton Healthcare Services Corporation and is an integral part of the rapidly changing and growing community.  GH serves the Town of Halton Hills with a population of over 59,000.  Together with Milton District Hospital and Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial HospitalHalton Healthcare provides quality, compassionate healthcare services to more than 325,000 residents ensuring a consistent, coordinated approach to care through the provision of primary, secondary and some tertiary healthcare services.  

Led by a volunteer Board of Directors, the Georgetown Hospital Foundation (GHF) is dedicated to ensuring that the GH is equipped to offer top-quality, compassionate healthcare today and into the future.  With the help and support of valued volunteers, citizens and local businesses, the GHF raises funds for much needed equipment and hospital upgrades.  The Foundation recently concluded its biggest fundraising campaign in the hospital’s history surpassing its $6.5 million dollar goal in a three year period. The funds raised supported the recent 14,000 sq. ft. expansion of the Emergency Department and the renovation to Diagnostic Imaging Department to accommodate the hospital’s first CT Scanner.

Position Summary:

Leading a team of three staff, the Executive Director (ED) is accountable through the Chair of the Georgetown Hospital Foundation Board of Directors for strategic, operational and financial management leadership of the Foundation to advance philanthropic support. The ED will raise the profile of the Foundation and build awareness in the community to make GH the preferred destination for charitable giving while broadening and deepening relationships with current donors. The ED is responsible for building and maintaining effective relationships between the GHF and its internal stakeholders (including the Hospital’s Board of Directors, senior leadership, hospital staff, professional staff and volunteers), key external stakeholders (including prospects and donors) and the community at large. 

Qualifications: 

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field

  • Related professional certification (CFRE is preferred)

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a similar senior management role required

  • Proven experience working effectively with not for profit Boards to develop and implement strategic and operational plans required

  • Demonstrated experience in developing fundraising plans, budgets, work plans and performance reports required

  • Proven experience and success in donor acquisition and setting and achieving fundraising targets through individual and corporate giving required

  • Demonstrated experience and success in fundraising from multiple donor channels including major gifts, planned giving and corporate sponsorships, direct mail, special events required

  • Experience running successful capital campaigns required

  • Experience developing and implementing effective communication plans including experience using social media

  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of inspiring and motivating others to achieve success

  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines

  • Commitment to quality and attention to detail

  • Excellent problem-solving skills 

  • Proven financial and analytical abilities

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills including the ability to make effective presentations

  • Excellent customer service skills 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Raiser’s Edge fundraising software
