Director of Direct Marketing (Direct Response)

National Office | Location: Toronto

 

Role Profile:

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Direct Marketing is responsible for achieving and surpassing the revenue targets for The Arthritis Society’s direct response program, including direct mail, tele-fundraising and online fundraising campaigns across Canada.

Key responsibilities of this role will include providing strategic direction to internal and external stakeholders in order to execute the annual direct marketing campaign plan and oversee efficient management of the program; monitoring and evaluating performance on campaigns in order to deliver and exceed results; and identifying process and performance gaps and formulating solutions in conjunction with program stakeholders. The position has one direct report.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or a related field and possess at least eight (8) years of experience gained from progressive responsibility in direct marketing (direct mail, tele-fundraising and online fundraising) roles. Exceptional organizational/project management skills are key, with the ability to establish priorities and manage multiple deadlines a must. Working knowledge of the non-profit landscape is essential. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytic skills and working knowledge of databases (Raiser’s Edge) and database marketing, with a demonstrated ability to build and manage a budget & expenses and evaluate & analyze results. Excellent relationship management and communication skills are essential, with the successful candidate required to interact regularly with a wide range of stakeholders including vendors, agencies and colleagues at all levels nationwide. Working knowledge of French is an asset.
