Job Description

Founded by a group of volunteers in 1988, Casey House was Canada’s first stand‐alone treatment facility for people with HIV/AIDS, and the first free‐standing hospice in Ontario. Its founders created a home environment in which people with HIV/AIDS could be cared for with dignity and compassion and with that, created new approaches to palliative care, and played a leading role in both end‐of‐life care and HIV/AIDS care. Building on this history, Casey House is once again creating something new and, after rigorous study and planning, is establishing a unique facility that will include a new day health program and will bring all its services under one roof. Opening in the spring of 2017, and honouring the values of excellence and compassionate care established by its founders, its new home will be a 58,000 square foot glass and brick facility, which will embrace the designated heritage house at the corner of Jarvis and Isabella Streets.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, Casey House is seeking a Chief Marketing and Development Officer. The CMDO will develop, manage and lead through a team of 6 staff the activities in the fundraising department including major gifts, annual campaigns, special events, planned giving, communications, marketing, special events and community relations. The CMDO will also work closely with the Casey House Board of Directors, and the Fundraising Sub Committee, to ensure that Casey House’s goals are achieved.

As an ideal candidate, you recognize yourself within Casey House’s values, you are a highly respected and proven fundraiser with successful and proven progressive experience in senior management roles and with navigating the changing landscape of philanthropy in Canada. You are creative in your approach to revenue generation and will focus your efforts on inspiring a new cohort of donors through non-traditional methods.  You have the interest and aptitude to mentor and coach, to inspire and lead, and to manage change with senior level volunteers while fostering effective partnerships inside Casey House and across Aids Service Organizations (ASO’s) and the broader healthcare field. You will use all these skills and experiences to develop and implement revenue generation plans that will ensure both Casey House’s short and long-term success.
