Position Summary:

Working under the direction of the Executive Director, Alumni Affairs & Advancement, the Director of Development will be responsible and accountable for the successful management and execution of the advancement portfolio for Victoria University in the University of Toronto. Primary responsibilities will include the continuing growth and development of the major gift program with respect to supporting approved fundraising priorities and the successful growth of the annual giving program.

The complexity and scope of the Alumni Affairs & Advancement division at Victoria requires the incumbent to be efficient and effective in the management of all related advancement processes and to ensure that the flow of information, the execution of campaigns and advancement-related events are facilitated appropriately by those staff members assigned to each function. 

Qualifications Required:


University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience


Minimum 7 or more years in a senior advancement role, preferably in a University environment and with a demonstrated track record of securing major gifts and managing advancement professionals.  Expertise in the annual fund space is also required.


Excellent leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate others. Strong ability to project manage, multi-task and work toward deadlines in a hectic environment.  Outstanding communications skills (oral and written).  Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy.  Superior organizational and analytical skills. Knowledge of Blackbaud products (Arbor) considered an asset.
