POGO is currently hiring a full-time Development Assistant/Event Coordinator to support the Development Team.   This position offers the incumbent the opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative team and contribute to the implementation of POGO’s new comprehensive fundraising strategy.

Description of the Position:

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the incumbent will join a team of energetic, passionate staff committed to improving the circumstances of children with cancer, survivors of childhood cancer, their families, and their professional caregivers.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Third Party Event Coordination: in collaboration with the fundraising team and Chief Development Officer, execute the business plans for this revenue portfolio
  • Signature Event Coordination: in collaboration with the fundraising team and Chief Development Officer, execute the business plans for this revenue portfolio
  • Volunteer Coordination: To support the efforts of volunteers who support POGO office activity
  • Database Management: data entry, data integrity, query creation, reports, analysis, tax receipting, letters
  • Meeting Facilitation: booking, minutes, agenda preparation, package distribution etc.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Management of  information, including paper and electronic filing, as well as participation in document tracking and control
  • Maintaining positive relationships with staff, outside organizations, health care professionals, and  stakeholders
  • At all times, ensuring the privacy and security of all personal health information via fax, telephone, electronic, or hard copy
  • Using appropriate judgment to ensure inquiries are appropriately handled or appropriately redirected
  • Provide back up to other administrative personnel as required
  • Other duties as required

Education and Experience

  • University degree or community college diploma preferred in fundraising/business
  • 1 year of work/volunteer experience in fundraising

Other Skills and Qualifications:

  • Raiser’s Edge experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Solutions oriented
  • Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Results-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
