What This Position is About:

This is a temporary assignment (contract duration to be approximately 13 months beginning in January, 2018).  Resumes will be evaluated as they are received. This competition will remain open until filled.

Fleming has a successful track record in fundraising and alumni activities that support student assistance and major capital projects.  The College is embarking on several initiatives to support exciting facilities development projects and student support programs.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Marketing & Advancement, The Director, Advancement and Alumni Relations is accountable for directing all aspects of Advancement and Alumni Relations at the College.

This role develops the annual and long-term fundraising and partnership goals in line with the College’s strategic objectives, and establishes strategies and plans for achieving the goals. The incumbent identifies needs, then plans and executes requests for financial support for capital campaigns, equipment, student assistance and other significant resources.

The Director provides leadership and advice on institution-wide development policy to senior management and their respective faculties.  The incumbent will conduct research on current trends, market conditions and potential donors and is expected to increase the stream of endowment income and expendable revenue.

The Director develops networks and relationships with corporate and community leaders, alumni, the College's internal community and others to achieve performance goals and builds the partnerships necessary for long term success of the College’s fundraising goals.

This position is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the College alumni program and is accountable for administration of selected College scholarship and bursary programs.

As leader of the Advancement and Alumni Relations office, this individual is responsible for effective and efficient office management functions, including staff supervision, organizational structure, hiring/termination, and budget administration.

What We Are Looking For:

Candidates must hold a 4 year post-secondary degree, preferably related to fundraising, advancement, public relations, marketing or communications. Applicants must have progressive work experience in developing, implementing and assessing fundraising plans and strategic relationship management. Possession of the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation is an asset.

Success in this role requires strong and effective communications skills with the ability to negotiate and build consensus, initiate partnerships, foster cooperation and work collaboratively within and across various departments.   You possess solid project management capabilities and the ability to innovate. This position requires experience in employee and volunteer leadership, supervision, motivation and team building and budget management.  Experience working within the confines of government acts and regulations, organizational policies and procedures and unionized environments is beneficial to this role.
