Job Description

People for Education (PFE), a Toronto-based charitable organization, is seeking a highly motivated, experienced fundraising professional to support our fundraising event development, donor communications and service, and data management functions.

While we are a small organization, we have a powerful voice – providing evidence and advocacy for public education in Ontario and Canada. We conduct and publish research, convene a range of stakeholders, and foster public dialogue to explore the purpose and value of universal public education. We serve as a key resource for media inquiries nationally on the subject of public education.

We’re looking for a candidate who understands the world of non-profits, has experience in fundraising, and who cares about our cause. The person we are seeking will be adept at multi-tasking; able to handle multiple deadlines; and have the capacity and disposition to work with and support a volunteer committee.

Duties and Responsibilities

This is a 12 week contract position starting March 26th, 2018. Working under the supervision of the Executive Director and in collaboration with People for Education’s Fundraiser, the coordinator’s duties will include:

  • updating and maintaining PFE’s Salesforce donor database
  • analyzing data and creating reports from the donor database
  • writing thank you letters and issuing charitable receipts
  • gift processing
  • supporting donor stewardship and recognition strategies
  • coordinating layout and production of materials for supporter mailings
  • acting as a liaison with PFE staff for PFE’s annual fundraising benefit
  • providing support to the event organizing committee
  • maintaining a data base of silent and live auction items
  • coordinating designing and printing of event materials
  • coordinating ticket sales, distribution and pick up
  • providing event support at a gala fundraiser on the night of May 24th
  • other administrative and event support as required


  • 2-4 years of experience in fundraising / event support
  • Extensive experience with MS Office
  • Experience with Salesforce and Eventbrite
  • Knowledge of Adobe Design Suite is an asset
