The Fundraising Manager Major Gifts is passionate about fundraising, donor stewardship and delivering top-notch services to all of our stakeholders. The Fundraising Manager Major Gifts is not afraid to ask for the funds we need to end homelessness in Toronto. He/she manages a portfolio of no less than 150 major donors.

Fundraising Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising, and working collaboratively with other members of the Fred Victor Fundraising and Communications Team, the Manager of Major Gifts is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, stewarding and building the base of major gift donors (primarily foundations and corporations). The Manager will be an integral team member involved in the development of a $1.3 million-dollar Case for Support, to drive a long-term vision for Fred Victor’s core services and programs.

This critical fundraising position will independently design and implement strategies to cultivate relationships with approximately 150 existing and prospective donors at the $5k+ level. This position will work closely with the Director of Development and Director of Communications, and Board Members on their prospects, helping to manage these pipelines.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Major Giving Portfolio

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 150 prospects and donors
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift donors to meet annual revenue goals
  • Collaborate with colleagues on strategy for high priority, high touch individual giving prospects
  • Provide behind-the-scenes management of the donor pools for the Directors and Board Members (e.g. proposals, strategy, follow-up)
  • Participate in multi-year plan for major donors with concrete and measurable goals, annual calendar and metrics
  • Maintain database records, using CRM, tracking contact and pipeline related information
  • Conduct regular face-to-face meetings/tours with donors, including direct gift solicitations throughout the year
  • Establish goals to move donors up the giving cycle and solicit multi-year pledges

Communication, Stewardship and Events

  • Collaborate with the Communications team to establish a regular and engaging cycle of compelling and strategic communication for major donors
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to create targeted solicitation materials to  inspire donors to give
  • Collaborate with Communications team to maintain an efficient stewardship process that ensures all donors receive personalized and timely communication and acknowledgment

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION:

  • Degree from a relevant university program
  • Post graduate degree or accreditation in philanthropy or fundraising is preferable

EXPERIENCE:

  • 6+ years of progressive experience and success in major gift fundraising, business development, prospecting, donor cultivation and relationship management
  • Experience within a social service or housing non-profit preferred
  • Experience with stewarding, soliciting and closing gifts $10k- $100k
  • Experience of working with Microsoft Office applications

  • Strong interpersonal skills in particular exceptional ability and the confidence to relate with different levels of stakeholders
  • Proven ability to set priorities, complete work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
  • A hands-on team player
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to take initiative to ensure results; self-motivated
  • Highly professional in approach and detail oriented
