The YWCA Canada team is a team of highly energetic, inspired and dedicated professionals committed supporting the mission and vision of YWCA Canada. The Manager of Philanthropy & Strategic Impact will be a strategic thinker, have excellent interpersonal skills, be motivated by results, and have demonstrated success in managing relationships with funding partners. They will work in a collaborative, innovative environment, building and stewarding relationships and securing financial support for YWCA Canada and its 32 member associations across the country.
The staff develops, plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates agency fundraising activities and events to support the programs and services provided YWCA Canada. This includes an annual Fund Development Plan with fiscal and strategic objectives. They are responsible to ensure positive relationships with stakeholders, donors, sponsors, and partners to secure financial investment in support of the mission of YWCA Canada.
This includes, but is not limited to: grants and proposals, special events, direct giving, on-line giving, planned giving, corporate giving, and major gifts. Donor cultivation, recognition and stewardship, in addition to lead-generation, donor prospecting, data-base management, and communications are key functions. The Manager of Philanthropy & Strategic Impact will also liaise with YWCA staff across Canada, in the development and execution of a multi-year Pan-Canadian fund development and income diversification strategy; aimed at building the YWCA brand nationally as well as enhancing the resources of member agencies across Canada.

Your first task will be to create a fundraising plan with weekly and daily targets around contacting prospects and maintaining donor relationships as part of annual fundraising campaigns with clear deliverables in:
- Growing annual Rose Campaign & #NotOkay fundraising and awareness campaigns with clear metrics.
- Lead the ongoing planning, promotion, execution and evaluation of two fundraising events with a team of volunteers.
- With the CEO and 32 YWCA member associations, lead the development of pan-Canadian fundraising strategies; decisions are made together with a national committee representing YWCA’s members.
- Prospect and secure additional monetary and in-kind donations and sponsorships to support events and/or planned program needs.
- Develop a donor recognition programme for YWCA Canada donors.
- Evaluate and negotiate all Third Party fundraising opportunities and formerly manage contracts/ community partner delivery in line with YWCA Canada mission, vision, and values.
- Collaborate with YWCA member associations to document and disseminate best practices in fundraising.
- Send out fundraising best practices newsletter on a bi-weekly basis and facilitate monthly webinars for YWCA member associations.
- General Fund Development portfolio oversight (acquisition/retention and administration)
- Co-ordinate data management of donors, community partners, sponsors, in-kind and other sources of income using database management tools (e.g. Artez, DonorPerfect) – as well as operates other software and systems (CanadaHelps, etc.).
- Develop a work plan in collaboration with a National YWCA Committee of stakeholders to identify opportunities for income diversafication and execute this work plan.
- Prepare and deliver donor prospecting and lead generation plans, and ensure effective stewardship and recognition plans for existing donor/ support base.
- Prepare and deliver major supporting documents and reports such as a “Case For Support”; major event progress/performance reports to YWCA membership; annual and monthly overview reports to donors; donor recognition communications; and, press/media releases.
- Research potential corporate and private foundation partners and tailor proposals for prospects.
- Ongoing development and implementation of communication plans in support of fund development initiatives.
- Represent the agency in a public relations capacity for community development, partnership, and prospecting for fund development, advocacy, and branding.
- Report on targets and deliverables that support the organization’s financial goals.
- Notify and create effective roles, training and supervision/support for fund-development volunteers.
- Contribute to fund development related web development, social media, video production and other traditional/digital marketing and promotional materials.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Undergraduate degree/diploma in fund-development, marketing, sales or a related discipline
- Three (3) to five (5) years successful experience in a fund development capacity, or equivalent experience in marketing & sales.
- Proven track record in marketing & sales and/or attaining funding for various non-profit/community based programs through various grants and proposals, special events, fundraising campaigns, donor prospecting, philanthropic campaigning, corporate solicitation, and major gifts.
- Experience in working with projects, programs and initiatives that improve health outcomes and quality of life through service delivery, programming, knowledge sharing, capacity building, self-empowerment, networking, advocacy, and fund development.
- Experience in developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating large scale event-based fundraising activities and campaigns.
- Experience with building, supporting, and managing strategic collaborative partnerships.
- Skilled in developing and initiating new fundraising, programming and service delivery ideas in partnership with ethnically, and economically diverse individuals, institutions and groups.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral skills including public speaking/presentations and representing an agency with professionalism.
- The ability to manage priorities, multi-task simultaneous priorities, work independently with tight timelines, maintain confidentiality, and deal effectively with changing deadlines.
- The ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.
- Strong computer skills including all Microsoft Office programs, DonorPerfect, RaisorsEdge, granting/donor databases, customer relationship management systems, and digital communications - such as social media, and web content management.
- Proven experience utilizing one or more donor database management tools and/or online fund processing systems.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends when required in a variety of social and physical settings along with travel and offsite work.
