Job Description

Overview:

The Development Office and ShareLife of the Archdiocese of Toronto is seeking a full time Development Coordinator to promote and provide administration of the Development Office programs to parishes, individuals, and partners across the Archdiocese, including: Pre-authorized giving (PAG), Estate Gifts, Securities Gifts, Sacrificial Giving (increased offertory program) and In-Memoriam (Tribute) Giving.
 

Responsibilities:

Promote the following programs to parishes within the Archdiocese:

Pre-authorized Giving

  • Promote the merits of pre-authorized giving to Pastors and Parish Finance Councils
  • Assist with the development and promotion of a pre-authorized giving program in the parishes, including training for Parish Administrators, and, where required, presentations at weekend Masses

Assisting the Planned and Personal Giving program

  • Manage donor files in Raisers Edge database
  • Respond to requests for planned and personal giving material
  • Respond to general inquiries about contributions to Archdiocesan related charities.
  • Manage and update the Catholic Advisor list
  • Create materials for the Development office as needed
  • Coordinate each issue of “Your Catholic Legacy” newsletter
  • Coordinate the logistics and implementation of the Annual Legacy Society Mass and Lunch and the Annual Advisors Event as well as participation in offsite events e.g. CWL convention

Estate Gifts

  • Administer the correspondence and proactive movement of bequests
  • Correspond with legal offices and estate trustees
  • Administer the estate filing system

Securities Gifts

  • Administer the multi-stage process of securities gifts
  • Liaise with donors and donors’ advisors during the gift process
  • Correspond with internal and external recipient charities
  • Coordinate the preparation of thank you letters and tax receipts for gifts of securities

Sacrificial Giving

  • Identify parishes that may be candidates for a sacrificial giving program
  • Teach the theology of faith based giving to Pastors and Parish Finance Councils
  • Prepare materials to introduce the merits of the program to Pastors / Parish Finance Councils
  • Assist parishes with the implementation of the program, including, where required, presentations at weekend Masses

Tribute Giving

  • Monitor and administer the in-memoriam and tribute-giving program being used by parishes and parishioners in the Archdiocese
  • Prepare and mail acknowledgment letters to recipients of tribute gifts

Other

  • Monitor endowment gifts and insurance gifts. Prepare and mail the corresponding tax receipts on an annual basis
  • Coordinate with the Office of Public Relations & Communications for design requirements
  • Update the Online Donation portal, and website, when necessary
  • Monitor the inventory of Development Office communications and promotional materials

 

General Requirements:

  • A practicing Catholic with sound knowledge of Catholic theology and values
  • Post secondary diploma in administration or equivalent
  • Two to three years experience, including clerical and secretarial functions
  • Knowledge of Planned Giving processes an asset
  • Computer expertise, including Microsoft Office
  • Basic knowledge of database programs (Parish Tools, Raisers Edge)
  • An understanding of the principles of Christian stewardship
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound public speaking skills
  • Evening and weekend work as required
  • A criminal background check will be required of the successful applicant
