Senior Manager, Corporate Partnerships

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra is seeking a full-time Senior Manager, Corporate Partnerships to focus on new business development and support on key account management projects. This role reports to the Director of Corporate & Foundation Partnerships, and will support an annual revenue target of $750,000. The TSO is seeking an ambitious candidate with leadership skills who would welcome the chance to advance within the organization.


Interim Director, Corporate & Foundation Partnerships

This fall, the Senior Manager, Corporate Partnerships will advance to an Interim Director role for approximately 14 months, and will have two direct reports, including the Manager of Corporate Partnerships, and Development Officer, Foundations. The Interim Director, Corporate & Foundation Partnerships leads strategy for partnership renewals and negotiation, supports all account management, and generates new business sales. The portfolio has an annual departmental revenue target of $1.4M and includes sponsors, corporate hosting partners, private corporate events, hospitality partners, as well as corporate and foundation donations.

Major Accountabilities & Duties

Senior Manager, Corporate Partnerships

  • Focus on new business outreach and sales, including pitches, negotiation, contracting, and account briefings to ensure seamless transition to account manager
  • Review and approve new business proposals from Manager, Corporate Partnerships, ensuring benefits and properties are approved and do not conflict with existing partnerships or category exclusivities
  • Review and maintain Property Availability & Pricing chart
  • Lead the creation of the Sponsor Welcome Kit template
  • Lead ticket fulfillment package preparation for September delivery
  • Other duties as assigned

Interim Director, Corporate & Foundation Partnerships

  • Monitor and manage all stages of partnership development, donor cultivation and stewardship to ensure direct reports will be able to meet departmental targets
  • Lead renewal strategy, negotiation, contracting, and key meetings for select accounts ($100K+), with support from Manager, CP and Development Officer, Foundations
  • Prioritize relationship building with key corporate & foundation partners to ensure high renewal rates
  • Lead sales priorities strategy and creation & maintenance of sales materials  
  • Lead identification and development of new partnership benefits and properties
  • Review contracts for films and special concerts, and liaise with VP, Development and Artistic to ensure sponsorship requests are included
  • Oversee accurate fulfillment of partner benefits, including programme book crediting, sponsor banners, and in-auditorium acknowledgments
  • Manage partnership ticket inventory & ticket approvals for partners & prospects
  • Support the preparation and customization of summary reports, welcome kits, stewardship reports, and grant applications, prioritizing demonstrating ROI and impact to partners
  • Budgeting, including revenue and expense tracking, forecasts, and cash flow projections
  • Manage and mentor department staff (2), including Manager, Corporate Partnerships, and Development Officer, Foundations
  • Support Senior Manager, Events with hospitality partnership renewals & account management
  • Support Vice President Development with preparation of proposals, meeting materials, and financial summaries for board members and executive requests
  • Concert duty as needed for prospecting, account management, and onsite activations
  • Support strategic events and initiatives for the Development team, such as the Gala
  • Other duties as assigned


Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven success soliciting new paid partners, including negotiation and contracts
  • Knowledge of best practices in partnership management and category exclusivity
  • Confidence and persuasiveness presenting and up-selling existing partners
  • Degree in fundraising, marketing, arts administration, business, or equivalent work experience in a related field
  • 5-7 years’ experience in sponsorship
  • Experience managing direct reports
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial management
  • Knowledge of and interest in orchestral music preferred
  • Advanced computer, internet, and Microsoft Office Suite skills are essential; experience with fundraising software (for example, Tessitura) is desirable


Flexibility in hours and the ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends as part of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra team is required.
