Digital Fundraising Officer

About the role

Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation is currently seeking a Digital Fundraising Officer to join the Marketing, Communications & Community Giving team. This brand new role has been created to help support the expansion of the Foundation’s digital and social media presence with a focus on coordinating and capitalizing on online fundraising opportunities across all channels and programs, and most importantly acquiring and retaining donors via digital channels. We are looking for an ambitious and self-motivated digital fundraiser to coordinate and lend their expertise to our social, email, search and display marketing activities for the Foundation.  


  • Guided by the Director, Community Giving, articulate a comprehensive digital marketing strategy for the Foundation.

  • Support the development of the digital platform as a primary acquisition source for new donors.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to help them leverage digital channels to support their fundraising objectives. Includes providing guidance and strategic support for digital strategies relating to Annual and Commemorative programs, Events and Major Giving campaigns. 

  • Track and report on revenue, acquisition, and retention of online supporters across programs and campaigns, and adjust strategies and activities based on analytics.

  • Collaborate with the Manager, Web Design & Development to ensure execution of digital activities including email campaigns, SEO, Google Grants, remarketing, etc. is in line with industry best practice and aligned with overall digital marketing strategy. This includes articulating objectives, goals and KPIs to enable timely analytics and reporting for all digital marketing initiatives by the Manager, Web Design & Development.

  • Develop and manage digital user experience, which will include strengthening online donor onboarding and retention, implementing strategies to bridge siloes between direct mail and other programs, and identifying new digital fundraising opportunities to create an engaging digital donor experience.

  • Work with the Marketing & Communications team to develop, launch and ensure the ongoing coordination of a new donor ecommunication property.

  • When warranted, work with various partner agencies and suppliers to support various digital marketing and donor engagement activities set forth by the Foundation.



  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a digital fundraising role or similar digital marketing position required

  • Demonstrated success with search engine optimization, display advertising and social media campaigns, preferably for a non-profit organization, required

  • Proficient in Google Adwords, Google Grants and Google Analytics

  • Experience with Luminate Online, Artez/Frontstream or similar donation platform strongly preferred

  • Familiarity with email management systems such as MailChimp, including segmentation strategy and testing capabilities

  • Passion for the online space and keeping on top of trends, with a solid understanding of interactive channels and direct marketing principles

  • Excellent verbal and written (especially for the online audience) skills

  • Self-directed with a demonstrated strength in planning, prioritizing, organizing and project management to meet deadlines


Work Environment

  • Busy, service- and results-oriented environment; some activity outside the office in meeting with partners

  • Regular weekday hours with the occasional evening or weekend

  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues in all positions across the Foundation

  • Shared commitment and support of the overall Foundation goals
