St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation supports St. Joseph’s Health Centre in its tradition of providing quality, caring health services for the southwest Toronto community. The Foundation does this through various fundraising, stewardship and granting activities. Gifts to the Foundation help the Health Centre improve facilities, acquire equipment and support critical continuing education.
St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation is growing. It has a great community, an outstanding health centre and a campaign that has raised over $90 million to date to support St. Joe’s. It has built a motivated and strong Foundation group and is looking for a few key people to complete our team. We seek positive, enthusiastic, detail oriented team players who want to be part of an innovative team. The Development Officer will be outstanding team member, strategic thinker, and clear communicator who will enhance our current operations. They will have experience working with volunteers at all levels and will help build & maintain relationships with prospects, donors and Health Centre staff. Knowledge of our Toronto west end community will be a definite asset.
Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Development Officer is a key member of the campaign and major gifts team. The Foundation’s campaign has raised just over $90M and the Development Officer will work closely with the President and CEO of the Foundation as well as the Vice President and Campaign cabinet to support continued fundraising success.
In close partnership with the President of the Foundation, oversees the coordination of all Leadership Gift prospects and strategies leading to the fulfillment of annual and multi-year financial objectives, including preparing correspondence, proposals, gift agreements and other materials. Working with the Vice President Development to support and build a strong major and intermediate giving program.
Where appropriate, participates in donor cultivation and solicitation calls, and volunteer briefings related to such calls. Supports the stewardship of principal gift prospects and donors, developing opportunities for Presidential interaction, regular "touches" and formal written reports on use of their contributions.
Works with the VP Development and others to update and enhance an analysis model to track leadership gift progress and success, to guide decision-making and monitor performance of principal gift efforts. Develops and interprets relevant stewardship, gift and donor statistical information and analysis that is useful to St. Joe’s leadership in the overall development effort.
As time permits, builds a portfolio of up to 50 major gift prospects to cultivate and solicit gifts over $10,000.
We are looking for someone with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience/training and someone with three to five years of fundraising experience, preferably with major gifts, stewardship and planned giving programs. Experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred.

- Strong team player with a good sense of humour and ability to have fun
