Senior Development Officer, Major Gifts

(Permanent Full-Time)

Brescia University College seeks a dynamic, enthusiastic fundraising professional to join the Brescia Advancement and Alumnae Relations team. This new position has been created to take advantage of an exciting time in our University’s history. In 2019 Brescia will celebrate two milestones; our 100th anniversary and the grand opening of our new Academic Pavilion.


Reporting to the Executive Director, Advancement and Alumnae Relations the Senior Development Officer, Major Gifts is a key role for Brescia and is responsible for a full scope of development activities relating to discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors for the University. The results-driven incumbent will design, develop, implement, evaluate and manage effective, innovative and transformational fundraising strategies and programs supporting the financial goals of the University. In addition, the incumbent will manage the overall revenue development activities which include major gifts, endowments and planned giving.


The Senior Development Officer is expected to have exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire confidence and trust in alumnae, friends, corporations and other stakeholders. Strong communication and listening skills are a key element of this role when interpreting the concerns and interests of potential stakeholders and translating them into attractive opportunities for investment in the school’s development priorities. The ideal candidate will have a University degree, preferably in the liberal arts, business or communication and must have a minimum of five years of experience in fundraising, preferably in an educational institution. The Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation is a definite asset. The incumbent will be required to travel, attend events, and other Brescia commitments that will require the incumbent to work evenings and/or weekends.
