Position Description:                                                                          

The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for managing the strategic development, planning and implementation of marketing communications programs to grow brand awareness and support marketing, fundraising and client outreach efforts. To maintain brand identity and voice of content, this position will manage corporate communications, marketing communications, digital media and client side communications. This position requires a high level of leadership, coordination and cooperation with cross-functional teams, corporate donors, vendors and suppliers. Partnering with the Fund Development and Client Relations team is essential for developing content that supports the respective initiatives. Reporting to the VP, Development, the Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for the following core duties: 

  • Provide support to the development team to raise funds and awareness for Hope Air
  • Create and manage an integrated strategic communications plan to advance Hope Air, broaden awareness of its programs, increase its visibility across key stakeholder audiences, and cultivate new and existing relationships within targeted audiences
  • Responsible for the writing, research, strategic development, public relations of all campaigns and events in order to elevate Hope Air brand
  • Responsible for donation revenue generation through direct marketing campaigns
  • Manage print and electronic communications: website, e-appeals, e-newsletters and other communications in growing and stewarding Hope Air supporters and client outreach
  • Monitor and track results to measure effectiveness and calculate ROI, and provide data-driven improvements
  • Researches industry trends and best practices in communications and public relations, assesses the organization's performance and ensures continuous improvement
  • Mentor and supervise the Digital Communications Specialist
  • Provides editorial direction to Hope Air Digital Specialist and Communications volunteers to ensure fresh and relevant content across all channels and that events and major announcements have media, social media and video and photography coverage
  • Manages and grows relationships with media, key influencers, and industry professionals and develops effective story ideas and pitches for media
  • Develop and manage vendor and supplier relationships

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of development and execution of integrated marketing plans including advertising and communications materials
  • Superior project management, time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders to drive results
  • Solid knowledge of design principles and the ability to interpret specifications to proof web and print design projects
  • Understand, encourage and contribute to the culture of innovation within the organization
  • Possess excellent writing, proof-reading and editing skills
  • Analytical ability to assess and resolve communication and design issues
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with ambiguity
  • Very organized, excellent communication and presentation skills
  • You are a fantastic multi-tasker who is comfortable flexing between project management and marketing support activities
  • High-level interpersonal skills are necessary to coordinate projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively and independently within tight deadlines, adapt to changing deadlines and ability to prioritize multiple deliverables within a cross-functional team environment

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or equivalent experience
  • 5 years related work experience, preferably in fundraising, marketing, media, corporate communications, advertising and/or in a PR agency
  • Good understanding of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Twitter
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics
  • Strong skills in MailChimp, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Bilingual in French and English (oral and written) preferred
