The Opportunity:          

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Arthritis Society’s Ontario Division, the Director of Ontario Fundraising Events will lead the strategic development and execution of a $2 million event revenue portfolio. This portfolio includes signature, special and third-party fundraising events and is also inclusive of the Ontario sites within the Arthritis Society’s annual Walk for Arthritis.

A proven leader and an accomplished event fundraiser, the Director of Ontario Fundraising Events leads a team of ten (10) event fundraising professionals across the province to deliver the current $2 million portfolio as well as designing and executing a plan to achieve our ambitious event revenue growth target over the next five (5) years. The Director is an essential member of the Ontario Leadership Team (OLT) and proactively partners with other revenue stream leaders including Major Gifts, Corporate Partnerships and Direct Response to help deliver the overall Ontario annual revenue goal. 


Required Skills & Experience:

The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree, or relevant college degree, and possess at least seven (7) years of event fundraising experience, at least three (3) years of which were leading a fundraising events team, ideally within a healthcare, university and/or nonprofit environment. He/she will have a solid understanding and appreciation of the social, cultural and business fabric of the Ontario region, and will have the ability to represent the Arthritis Society’s mission, vision, goals and fundraising events with the highest professional standards. The capacity to work strategically, effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, build relationships, be articulate and engaging, and motivate a team is essential for this position, as are excellent decision-making and organizational skills. A real passion for furthering our mission is a must. AFP membership and CFRE accreditation, or working towards same, is a distinct asset. Bilingual (English and French) language skills are favorable.
