Program Overview – The WoodGreen Foundation, Central Services

The WoodGreen Foundation is the fundraising arm of WoodGreen Community Services.  The Foundation is focused on raising funds to support WoodGreen’s role as a sector leader in providing sustainable solutions to some of our City’s most complex social needs.  Through donor support WoodGreen is able to help break the cycle of poverty and homelessness and create new paths to opportunity. 

 

What You Will Do

  • Manage relationships with 100+ individual, corporate and foundation donors and prospective donors. Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle: (identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward).

  • With the Director of Research and Communications prepare effective proposals and grant submissions for individuals, corporations and foundations that are compelling, accurate and professionally written including case statements, tailored proposals, sponsorship packages and progress reports.

  • Develop and manage foundation and corporate funding applications, preparing letters of intent, online applications, proposals, grant applications and stewardship reports.

  • Build a culture of professional philanthropy by ensuring that board and volunteers are properly briefed and prepared in advance of any contacts to support their cultivation or solicitation activities and provide support with their calls or face to face meetings as appropriate.

  • Represent WoodGreen to external audiences and share information on programs and priorities.

  • Adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition, reflect an optimistic and positive attitude and be sensitive to the wishes and needs of the donor. Be authentic and accountable and foster an understanding of philanthropy within the organization.

  • Implement the campaign in collaboration with the Executive Director and working closely with the Board and Leadership Team.

  • Utilize campaign reports to evaluate progress towards goals, track pledges and monitor campaign budget, as well as provide ongoing status reports to the Campaign Cabinet and Board as needed.

  • Lead campaign fundraising volunteers in the development of their prospect list by developing targeted cultivation plans and solicitation strategies. Provide support to volunteer leadership in advancing prospect and donor strategies. Design and manage campaign and major donor engagement and stewardship strategies.

  • Adhere to campaign policies and practices, including but not limited to gift policies, donor acknowledgement, recognition, and reporting.

  • Collaborate with Annual Programs Manager to ensure campaign and annual support programs and activities are integrated.

 

What You Bring to the Team

  • Bachelor’s Degree; Certificate in Fundraising Management or professional designation an asset.

  • Five (5) years of successful experience in major gift fundraising including successfully closing gifts at the $100,000+ level.

  • Track record of success in a capital campaign.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement leadership gift strategies.

  • Proficiency in standard office software and Raiser’s Edge or other Fund raising software, information resources and publications, including fundraising databases and on-line services.

  • Excellent project management, including planning and critical evaluation of an initiative and designing metrics to monitor performance. Superior organizational abilities, detail-orientation, problem solver and able to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication, persuasion, and presentation skills including effective networking, relationship building and active listening.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to convey an authentic vision and impact. Ability to align donor interests with approved funding priorities/case for support to inspire giving.

  • A team player with an ability to work collaboratively in a multi-tasked environment.

  • Experience in pipeline development, prospect review and qualification, proposal development, report writing, successful cultivation and solicitation.

  • Entrepreneurial, creative, strategic minded and energetic.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. A “self-starter” and goal driven with an ability to identify business development opportunities.

  • Demonstrated tact, diplomacy, and ability to liaise with and inspire senior management, staff, corporate contacts and donors.
