Job Description

Established in 1867, The Bishop Strachan School (BSS) is the oldest girls’ day and boarding school in Canada, with a well-earned reputation as one of the country’s most prestigious and respected independent schools. BSS has long been a trailblazer in the education of girls, and an important influence on the changing attitudes that have revolutionized women’s participation at all levels of society. Today, BSS is a powerful, inspiring learning environment for 900 girls from JK-12, who are encouraged to discover their passions, believe in themselves, laugh often, take risks and approach their lives with commitment, compassion and the confidence to be fearless.

As Executive Director of Advancement, you will report to the Head of School, work closely with the Board of Trustees and Board of Governors, mentor a team of professionals and maximize the school’s capacity to provide financial aid, offer innovative programs and undertake capital projects. Engaging with the Head, volunteers, leadership, faculty, staff, families and alumnae, you will lead the development of a systematic, strategic, creative approach to donor pipeline development and stewardship, building a culture of philanthropy to support the school’s ambitious goals.

Emotionally intelligent, inclusive and a superb communicator, you have an undergraduate degree and broad leadership experience within a sophisticated advancement function in a non-profit organization. This is an opportunity to develop productive, lasting relationships with the school’s supporters by building a shared sense of purpose: to support the transformative power and impact of girls’ education.
