We’re currently searching for a collaborative and service-focused National Manager, Peer-to-Peer Fundraising (Walk & Gala) to drive fundraising results for the Sun Life Walk to Cure Diabetes and Gala events nationwide by providing operational support to these programs.


Key accountabilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Play a lead role in the development of the Walk business plan that includes key performance indicators, program minimum requirements and best practices
  • Collaboratively participate in the development of a robust Gala program to better facilitate Gala marketing, execution and fundraising
  • Collaboratively lead ongoing evaluation of the Walk fundraising platform, reviewing best practices to enhance the fundraising and participant use of the platform
  • Develop a support plan, outlining how the National Peer-to-Peer team will support the Gala program nationwide
  • Develop stewardship plans for the Walk and Gala volunteers  to ensure top contributors are being appropriately recognized
  • Search for opportunities to grow the Walk and Gala programs through market/competitive analysis of other programs, data review and identification of innovative fundraising or marketing ideas to ensure enhanced acquisition and retention rates
  • Analyze participation and fundraising reports and highlight variances to the National Director, Peer-to-Peer Fundraising, to assist in identifying markets where variances exist; work with the staff and volunteers in these communities to help them achieve their goals
  • Develop materials to support effective engagement of local Walk and Gala Cabinets/Committees and identify opportunities to enhance day-of-event experiences for Walk participants
  • Coordinate and manage all communications to field staff in relation to best practices and Walk/Gala program updates
  • Lead the development and facilitation of Walk and Gala training opportunities for field staff through national and regional in-person sessions, WebEx, and phone calls
  • Lead the coordination of meetings with Walk and Gala staff, with the purpose of sharing best practices, resources and tools to support fundraising growth
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications and the National Director, P2P Fundraising, to facilitate the execution of an internal communications plan to ensure that field staff are aware of Walk participant recruitment, strategies and plan and develop tools for field staff to use with Walk participants and Gala committees
  • Partner with Finance and I.T. to facilitate execution of reporting and financial planning for Walk and Gala
  • Work collaboratively with the National Manager, Peer-to-Peer Fundraising (Ride & Third Party) to identify synergies and economies of scale between JDRF’s P2P programs

  • At least 5 years of direct fundraising and/or event fundraising experience
  • University degree or College certificate in fundraising management, business or related discipline
  • Experience engaging corporate employee participation and a strong understanding of Third Party reporting requirements would be an asset
  • Experience in Peer-to-Peer fundraising program development and working with Galas and large scale events
  • Experience working with an online fundraising platform an asset (i.e. AKA Raisin) and a CRM
  • Experience working in an organization with regional chapters, staff, volunteers, and Board members, and working with volunteer committees
  • Staff management and budget management experience
  • Strong problem solving, analytical skills, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong presentation skills
  • Project coordination, planning and management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with various timelines and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of marketing and communications
  • Able to take initiative and work with minimal supervision and to collaborate with others in a team environment
