Since the inception of Southlake Foundation in 1980, over $100 million dollars has been raised in support of Southlake Regional Health Centre. Working with members of the community, hundreds of volunteers, the Southlake Family and our incredible donors, Southlake Foundation will continue to support life-saving medical equipment, infrastructure upgrades and expansions, patient programs and staff education, all for the goal of transforming the lives of patients and families, close to home. 

Under the leadership of a new CEO, Southlake Foundation is setting the stage for important fundraising growth to support the patients and families who rely on Southlake for excellent care.

 

The Position

Are you an entrepreneurial fundraising leader, ready to take your annual giving and direct marketing expertise to the next level? Southlake Foundation has an exciting opportunity for the right individual to advance their career as our Manager, Annual Giving while helping to bring world-class healthcare close to home for residents of York region.

Reporting to the VP Marketing and Donor Experience, the Manager, Annual Giving will be responsible for the leadership and oversight of a broad fundraising portfolio of over $2 million. This active portfolio includes direct accountability for the development and implementation of fundraising activities for our Mid-Level ($5,000 - $25,000), Hospital Family, and Planned Giving donors and prospects. Additionally, the Manager will be responsible for providing leadership to the Coordinator, Annual Fund, providing coaching to guide results for the Direct Marketing portfolio.

 

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and building a foundation-wide mid-level donor program, from strategy development through to implementation

  • Leading the Hospital Family program, engaging our partners in the hospital with the work of the Foundation while strengthening the culture of philanthropy

  • Developing the Planned Giving program for the Foundation, leading a collaborative cross-functional team to define strategy and implement marketing and fundraising tactics

  • Overseeing the work of the Coordinator, Annual Fund, providing leadership to the revenue development of the Direct Marketing program (direct response, including direct mail, patient mail, memorial giving, and staff lottery)

  • Identifying opportunities for revenue growth across Southlake’s communities, and building strategies and programs to capitalize on them

  • Implementing a robust program of data analytics to support revenue generation and operations

  • Working closely with Foundation colleagues to support a donor‐centred approach to migration between Annual, Major Gifts and Planned Giving program portfolios

  • Supporting the development of annual revenue and expense budgets for the portfolio

  • Identifying challenges that may impact achievement of fiscal targets through regular tracking and reporting of budgets and key performance indicators against goals

 

Qualifications and Experience

You are:

  • An entrepreneurial thinker, comfortable with pursuing new opportunities and risk

  • A passionate and energetic leader who inspires others

  • Highly adaptable and able to prioritize and work comfortably in a fast‐paced environment

     

You have:

  • A university degree or a combination of comparable skills and experience; CFRE designation preferred

  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in managing and growing high-performing fundraising programs

  • Exceptional project management skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, able to identify and act on new opportunities, as well as anticipate challenges and resolve issues as they arise

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and staff, volunteers, suppliers and other relevant stakeholders

  • Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills

  • High level of comfort working in Raiser’s Edge

  • Experience working in hospital environment, and / or health‐related charity an asset
