Development Specialist, Corporate & Foundations

Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada now has a regular full-time opportunity for a Development Specialist, Corporate & Foundations at their Ontario Chapter Office, located in Pickering, Ontario.

Working in collaboration with the Manager, Resource Development, this position is responsible for developing the corporate portfolio by providing exceptional stewardship of new and existing corporate partners and foundations to meet revenue goals. As well as, providing support on program development and execution province-wide.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Independently prospect, cultivate, solicit, secure, manage and steward new and existing donors to meet direct revenue goals and provide secondary account management of corporate partners to ensure donor needs are met.

  • Conduct background research and data gathering on prospects in support of the Chapter’s new business development activities.

  • Create, maintain, and implement corporate giving opportunities to further engage new and existing donors.

  • Effectively utilize grant proposal program to identify and solicit Foundations to meet revenue goals.

  • Ensure all donor data in the Raiser’s Edge database is up to date and accurate.

  • Collaborate with Finance to create revenue reports and year-over-year budget analysis on a monthly or as needed basis.

  • Provide support in preparing correspondence related to various annual appeals and campaigns and monitoring responses to ensure they are accurately tracked in Raiser’s Edge for analysis purposes.

  • Works in compliance with the provisions of The Occupational Health & Safety Act in the applicable province of employment and its regulations, and complies with the Foundation’s Health & Safety Policy.

  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Related post-secondary education or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years fundraising experience; experience in corporate development, or relationship management is an asset.

  • Experience in grant/proposal writing is an asset.

  • CFRE designation or working towards considered a strong asset.

  • Demonstrated success in developing plans and achieving revenue targets.

  • Positive attitude; ability to take responsibility and be accountable; ability to deal with change in the workplace and be innovative; respect for others.

  • Superior communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. Ability to speak to groups of people in a variety of settings.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 2010 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and related search engines.

  • Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and its applications.

  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required.


Working Conditions

  • Office environment with occasional requirements to work outside of regular office hours,

  • Some evening and weekend work required,

  • Some travel required (regularly within greater local area, occasionally beyond),

  • Occasional support at Ontario Chapter first-party events.


Physical and Mental Effort

  • Regular lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs.

  • May be exposed to sensitive/confidential information
