Director of Fundraising Events Innovation
National I Toronto

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, and working as part of our national revenue development team, the Director of Fundraising Events Innovation will be accountable for the identification, development, pilot testing, evaluation and ongoing leadership of new national fundraising events for the Arthritis Society, with a primary focus on a new signature event that will deliver total gross revenues of  four (4) million dollars within a period of three (3) years.He/she will also be accountable for the ongoing scanning of successful current national and international charity fundraising event/program ideas, with the objective of creating and managing a pipeline of events/programs pilots for the Arthritis Society on an ongoing basis.

 

Key accountabilities of this role will include:

Working collaboratively with an external partner agency to lead the development of up to two (2) national fundraising event concepts that are built upon a proven charity fundraising event model, while leveraging disease and brand insights. Driving the socialization of the concepts and business case development with other revenue stream leaders across the organization nationwide, including members of our senior leadership team, revenue development team and events team. Leading the creation of, and approval to, a business plan and investment case for each of the concepts that anticipates at least one (l) event to be piloted in late 2019. Upon approval, leading the in-market execution of the pilot(s), with the support of an external partner agency, as appropriate and affordable, as well as the organization's marketing and communications team, with thorough strategic evaluation to follow. Once in place, accountable for ongoing leadership, management and success of the new signature event nationwide.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

The successful candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in business, event planning or a related field, with a minimum of five (5) years of fundraising event management experience, ideally within a healthcare, university and/or nonprofit environment. A proven track record in strategic thinking and planning is a must. The ideal candidate will create and foster a solid understanding and appreciation of the social, cultural and business fabric of the various regions/ markets in which the Arthritis Society operates across the country, and be able to represent the organization's mission and vision to external partners with the highest  professional standards. The capacity to work effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders is essential for this position, as are excellent decision-making and organizational skills. A real passion and drive for events is a must. French language skills are an asset.
