Grants Manager (Full-Time, Permanent)

Eva’s Initiatives for Homeless Youth provides safe shelter, supportive services, and long-term solutions to youth homelessness. We believe all young people deserve safe, affordable housing, great support, and access to the resources to reach their full potential.

We are recruiting a social-justice informed fundraiser who specializes in grants management and can contribute to a growing, mission-driven organization.

This full-time position is responsible for developing and strengthening partnerships with government and foundation funders, including corporate, public, private and family foundations.

The Manager must be an exceptional writer with experience understanding and articulating theories of change. From grants strategy and research to developing relationships (internal with programming staff and external with granting officers) and reporting on evaluations, this position manages the grant process from beginning to end.

While this position requires a lot of “head down get things written” type work, it also requires exceptional relationship skills and critical thinking. The Manager should be able to take complex ideas and articulate them effectively to various audiences. Project management is critical to the success of this position, including managing various grant deadlines, multiple relationships, and reporting requirements.

Eva’s Development team is small but mighty. This position must be nimble and flexible, managing a complex workload. The Manager works closely with the development, communications, and programming teams to grow foundation support for the organization.

As Eva’s enters its 25th year in 2019, you are ready to leverage existing support and build new opportunities.


  • Researching and identifying government and foundation prospects to determine those suitable for cultivation (evaluating fit and capacity and making actionable plans for solicitation).
  • Solicit foundation interest and follow it up with a well-crafted, letter of interest and/or proposal to secure funding for Eva's Initiatives programs.
  • Oversee and evaluate current programs and strategies for corporate, government and foundation grants acquisition and renewal while taking into account the changing fundraising landscape and a competitive market.
  • Manage grant pipeline and maintain documentation on grants, deliverables, and communication.
  • Work with the Director of Development to develop annual forecasts, budgets and plans and collaborate with other fundraising and program staff to work towards fundraising goals.
  • Compile, write and submit interim and final grant reports according to donor’s granting requirements and deadlines
  • Drafting correspondence to donors on behalf of the Executive Director and the Director of Development.


  • Minimum of five years (successful) grants management experience
  • Proven design and execution of successful grants programs that meet/exceed revenue targets, within the charitable sector
  • Proficiency with grant solicitation and management
  • Captivating storytelling skills and superb editing skills
  • Experience with Theory of Change development and communications
  • Proven experience developing accurate timelines (with responsibilities, deadlines, benchmarks) and providing input on budgets that are attainable yet aggressive
  • Relationship building skills and a proven track record of developing and growing foundation engagement;
