The Opportunity

Providence Healthcare Foundation is seeking an experienced, self-motivated fundraising professional with executive presence for a newly created, high-profile, revenue generation role. The Manager, Leadership & Planned Giving is responsible for stewarding Leadership Gifts ($5,000 - $100,000), Major Gifts and Planned Giving. The ideal candidate has proven ability to lead the fundraising, stewardship, cultivation and solicitation of leadership gifts, as well as manage a pipeline of more than 100 major gift prospects, and a pipeline of more than 50 planned giving prospects and donors. The Manager, Leadership & Planned Giving acts as liaison with our important and influential committees and their members.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and leading special fundraising projects that elevate our brand and forge new donor relationships. We are seeking someone who can work in a fast-paced environment and is able to develop and maintain lasting relationships with donors, growing their support year-over-year.

This is a high-profile position with broad reach. We require an emotionally mature, self-motivated professional with sound judgment, proven fundraising skills and the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate will have experience effectively building a prospect pipeline, developing prospects and establishing strong partnerships.

We are open to candidates with relational sales experience in the corporate sector who are interested in working in the not-for-profit sector.


Key responsibilities

  • Develops, creates and manages annual development plans and budgets for major gifts and campaigns.

  • Leads and manages major gifts and campaign portfolios, including developing research, collateral materials, naming opportunities, proposals and donor cultivation.

  • Leads major giving initiatives, including recruiting ambassadors, motivating and soliciting donors to make donations, monitoring donation commitments and making regular presentations at board and committee meetings.

  • Creates long-term growth plans, as well as annual development plans that set goals, objectives, targets and budgets for leadership fundraising strategies.

  • Builds, manages and maintains a portfolio of more than 100 leadership gift donors and prospects through effective outreach, relationship management, solicitation and stewardship.

  • Develops and maintains annual business plans, with expense and revenue budgets.

  • Builds and maintains actively-engaged committees made up of high-profile volunteers.

  • Manages activities related to planned giving, including developing customized giving options for prospective donors, financial and estate planners; analyzing legal documentation; assisting donors and their advisors in developing appropriate wording for their wills for bequests to Providence Healthcare; and planning and organizing seminars for prospective donors, financial, estate planners and the public.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree. University degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Communications.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume, collaborative, medium-sized shop.

  • Proven track record soliciting, closing and stewarding major gifts of $5,000-$100,000+ from individuals, foundations and corporations.

  • Demonstrated experience building and working a prospect pipeline from making warm calls, to renewing and upgrading donors.

  • Expertise and experience managing a personal portfolio of 100+ donors and prospects.

  • Demonstrated success in leading, coaching and motivating hospital staff and volunteer fundraising committees.

  • Knowledge and understanding of major and planned giving vehicles.

  • Experience building mass and personalized donor recognition and stewardship strategies.

  • Experience creating and monitoring annual business plans and budgets.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage projects within established timelines.

  • Superb attention to detail with superior written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong team player who is also able to work independently and exercise sound judgment, confidentiality, tact and diplomacy with all stakeholders.

  • Exhibits patience, maturity, flexibility, and respect with colleagues, volunteers, and donors.

  • Exemplifies the highest degree of ethical standards and professional conduct and operates with integrity.

  • Possesses a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Raiser’s Edge or other similar CRM database.

  • A CFRE designation is considered an asset. We encourage our staff to achieve and maintain the CFRE designation.

  • Understands the working schedule of non-profits and flexibility of hours required.
