Title: Community Partnership Officer
Reports To: National Director, Development
The purpose of this position is to identify, secure, maintain and expand opportunities with the organization’s largest and most significant portfolio of relationships in order to ensure rapid revenue and capabilities growth for Autism Speaks Canada. The Community Partnership Officer is a point of contact to represent Autism Speaks Canada’s mission priorities to a diverse and growing account portfolio and therefore must be comfortable meeting with and developing relationships, as well as successfully representing a variety of corporate relationship opportunities from fundraising and participation at Walk and other Autism Speak Canada events to securing significant underwriting support for mission priorities. This position is responsible for achieving annual revenue targets and ensuring account needs and expectations are aligned with and met by Autism Speaks Canada.
Often, the Community Partnership Officer will be expected to lead cross functional teams in planning initiatives, and successfully develop business accounts creatively and financially, while playing a positive role in developing new business within their account portfolio. The Community Partnership Officer reports to the National Director of Development.
- Achieve revenue goals. As a department, meet and exceed specific annual revenue and mission goals aligned with strategic organizational priorities. Responsible for the development of a portfolio of accounts, consistently initiating, executing and achieving both revenue and mission delivery goals annually.
- Works directly with National Director, Development on ongoing prospecting efforts as a catalyst for new business development activity within new and existing portfolio of relationships, demonstrating expertise in consultative selling and ensuring the successful management of strategic relationships within an account management process. The Community Partnership Officer functions as a consultative sales resource to other internal departments and field staff. Continuously cultivates a working relationship with staff at all levels.
- Establishes mechanisms to monitor actual results against plans, communicates status of plans and initiates corrective actions as necessary so that goals are met.
- Collaborates to build fundable programs and initiatives - Works internally with members of the Leadership Team to create, package and articulate programs and initiatives that include desirable sponsorship/marketing/reach benefits. Each program must remain flexible so that prospective sponsor’s marketing, philanthropy or business strategy can be achieved through relationship with Autism Speaks Canada. While customization of the program is essential to meeting the needs of the sponsor, the program must remain focused on meeting Autism Speaks Canada organizational priorities.
- Works with National Director, Development to facilitate the negotiation of the entire sales process to legal contract or Letter of Agreement. Ensure that adequate Autism Speaks Canada approval processes are completed. Approvals often require programming, marketing and Executive Director support. Works with senior level staff and volunteer leadership to gain understanding and commitment to new business opportunities.
- Works with National Director, Development to create the strategic direction for new development, including designing the business direction for new partnerships.
- Participate in the development of the strategic plan, processes, and solutions for new relations; translate these strategic business plans into new acquisition plans. Extend strategy into a tactical plan with metrics for measurable results.
- Drive business relationships in cooperation with key internal staff, board members and significant external partners.
- Drive value by providing leadership and guidance (coaching, mentoring, leading by example) to cross-functional teams (staff, volunteers and committees), and help build capabilities and leverage capacity across the entire organization.
- Develop new relationships through prospecting, cold calling and follow-up.
- Conduct research and analysis on prospects.
- Partner with Regional Field staff to identify, recruit and solicit prospects for Autism Speaks Canada.
- Track and manage leads/prospects and sales activity in ASC database; create monthly and quarterly reports, analyze data and disseminate to appropriate team members
- Familiarize and demonstrate ASC’s programs and service offerings, such as corporate teams and matching gifts, sponsorships, in-kind donations, workplace giving, etc. via the telephone and in person meetings.
- Keep abreast of the industry and competitive landscape of Autism Speaks Canada, while promoting the ASC brand and focusing on ASC’s value to the business relationship/partner; partner with Marketing staff to prepare marketing collateral and materials, including creating presentations within company guidelines and standards.
- Create synergy in order to foster relationships which will ultimately lead to the development of major national relationships in order to achieve specific revenue goals.

Education: University Degree or College Diploma
- 3-5 years experience in marketing, fundraising or related
- Demonstrated track record on new business acquisition
Specialized Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to express key concepts, share ideas and information effectively; ability to create meaningful reports and business correspondence; public speaking experience preferred
- Excellent relationship-building skills with a fundamental and disciplined approach to goal-setting and sales achievement; ability to be persuasive and close new business

- Proficient in MS Office suite: email, PowerPoint and databases (i.e., Raiser’s Edge and/or Kintera preferred)
