Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation (TGWHF) raises funds for research, education and the enhancement of patient care at Toronto General Hospital and Toronto Western Hospital, their respective research arms, the Krembil Research Institute and Toronto General Hospital Research Institute, and the Michener Institute of Education at UHN. The hospitals and institutes are part of University Health Network (UHN), which also includes Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and the Toronto Rehab Institute. TGWHF is currently seeking a Data Analyst to join the Marketing, Communications & Community Giving team.  Reporting to the Senior Director, Community Giving & Analytics, the successful candidate will be tasked with helping drive increased fundraising opportunities across the organization, helping improve fundraising outcomes, relationship management and maximize acquisition activities.

A new role for the Foundation, we are seeking a motivated, self-starter, who loves to problem-solve and has a knack for translating analytics into actionable information.



  • Responsible for improving existing fundraising program analytics, developing new analytics, and working with the Senior Director and other members of the Foundation team to develop and implement a fundraising analytics strategy to support our growth mandate.

  • Mine, organize and analyze data from different data sources, providing both on-going and ad hoc reporting, actionable intelligence, data-driven solutions and strategic insights related, but not limited to, donor segmentation, prospect identification and various fundraising activities.

  • Help promote a culture of decision-making based on data; this includes designing and building a fundraising analytics framework that focuses on proactive intelligence and leveraging new and existing data sources.

  • Support the optimization the foundation’s CRM, Raiser’s Edge, ensuring data is collected and captured in such a fashion as to ensure easy access and translation of data into action.

  • Own and manage projects from start to finish, ensuring results are achieved on time and free from errors; this includes liaising with colleagues across the Foundation to understand their needs, identify opportunities to support the fundraising and marketing teams, make recommendations on proper analytic techniques and tools, implement the analytics, and deliver the results in an impactful and coherent manner.



  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent, with an emphasis on Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or an analysis-driven discipline.

    3-5 years’ experience in a data and analytics role.

  • Proficient in data-oriented programming languages and visualization software. Comfortable with advanced analytics techniques, machine learning principles and modeling, along with experience working with modern analytics languages and tools or similar.

  • Insight-driven decision maker; know the questions to ask in order to identify opportunities and provide strategic recommendations.

  • Demonstrated understanding of fundraising and marketing concepts, including relationship management and specific metrics such as conversion and renewal, long-term value, return on investment and cost to raise a dollar.

  • Familiar with Raiser’s Edge, or similar constituent database.

  • Well- developed analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to resolve complex mathematical, algorithmic, and statistical problems. 

  • Driven to learn, research and improve analytics skillset.

  • Proven ability to organize and present data in a simple and meaningful way. Well-developed communication, presentation and interpersonal skills required.

  • Self-directed and self-motivated with a demonstrated strength in planning, prioritizing, organizing, collaborating and project management to meet deadlines.
