Job Description

The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society is a registered charity with a provincial office in Stouffville. The Society supports communities throughout Ontario. The following opportunity is available at the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society Provincial Office.


POSITION:                Manager, Data Administration

Department:             Finance

Reports To:             Director, Finance



  • Responsible for the Raiser’s Edge import process from other applications (ie: Luminate, Shelter Buddy) to ensure data is accurate and timely

  • Supervise tax receipting process to ensure they are issued in a timely manner and in compliance with CRA standards

  • Perform, review, maintain and reconcile theRaiser’s Edge GL Posting function

  • Configures Raiser’s Edge database based on user requirements

  • Maintain code tables (ie: campaign, fund, appeals, package codes, gift , etc), and attributes (gift, constituent, action)

  • Perform periodic queries to cleanup records and ensure data integrity (ie: update addresses, remove duplicate records, unsubscribe and bounce-backs emails)

  • Ensure that the donation processing operations is in compliance with all relevant standards (ie: CRA, PCI, CPA, etc)

  • Provide Raiser’s Edge support and training for internal users

  • Install software upgrades, patches and add-ons as required

  • Performs maintenance, backup and troubleshooting of the SQL database

  • Provide reporting and analysis to assist the Finance department

  • Work with other departments to ensure that other systems within the organization (ie: Luminate, PetPoint) have the correct financial configuration for processing in Raiser’s Edge and the GL

  • Create process and system documentation

  • Provide insight for continual operational improvements

  • Support senior members of the finance department as required



  • University degreeor related College diploma

  • Experience in a non-profit organization considered an asset

  • 3-5 yearsexperience with Raiser’s Edge database or similar application

  • Advanced level Excel skills (ie: vlookup, pivot tables)

  • Strong data manipulation skills and experience using 3rd party import tools (Omatic)

  • Strong knowledge of reporting tools and querying data (ie: Crystal Reports, Access, SQL)

  • Experience working with online fundraising applications (Luminate Online) and credit card payment gateways/processors

  • Database administration experience preferred (SQL database)

  • Strong communication skills

  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and priorities on tight deadlines

  • Detail orientated and strong analytical skills

  • Must be a team player
