Congress 2022 – Call for Speakers

    Theme: Work Your Purpose

After two years of completely virtual Congress, this year, we’re bringing Canada’s largest conference for fundraisers back in-person!

Congress is one of the leading professional development conferences for fundraisers; a resource to help us learn, grow and network. It is an opportunity to learn from those in the work with us, and by leaders who can instruct and inspire us. It is our goal that AFP Congress provides meaningful engagement and learning. We hope you will join us in November of this year to Work Your Purpose.

If you’re ready to talk, we want to hear your ideas.

Submit your speaker proposals for #AFPCongress2022 by Monday, April 11!

In 2022, Congress will center around working your purpose. Working your purpose is using compassion and empathy to meaningfully take action. Working your purpose is cultivating an outward-looking focus, and committing to action in areas that drive us. Working your purpose is working for change in the world.

We’re looking for enthusiastic and compelling speakers from diverse backgrounds and identities to present reimagined perspectives to the topic at Congress 2022.

We especially welcome content that challenges all of us to break down oppressive systems and practices within our sector.

Think you’ve got what our colleagues need to hear? Excited to share your knowledge, passion, ideas and expertise with your fellow fundraisers? Submit your proposal here by Monday, April 11, 2022, and let’s discover new ways to work our purpose!

    Shannon Carkner, CFRE (she/her)

    Chair, Congress 2022

    IDEA Speaker Award

In alignment with AFP Global practices, Congress speakers will receive a $50 honorarium (to be decided if this is a donation to charity or cash) and full access to Congress activities on the day they are presenting (a $350 value). Please note there are no travel stipends for out-of-town speakers.

In addition to an honorarium, a $200 IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access) Speakers Award is available for confirmed speakers who qualify and is available to AFP-GTC members and non-members. Qualified speakers with lived experience as part of an equity-seeking group and/or demonstrated expertise to topics related to IDEA, within the not-for-profit sector including, fundraising, policy development and ethics are encouraged to apply.

A speaker can qualify for this award if they belong to an equity-seeking group, which are communities that experience significant collective systemic barriers in participating in society. This could include attitudinal, historic, social and environmental barriers based on race, disability, religion, economic status, gender, sexual orientation and gender identify of expression. For this award, we are prioritizing the contributions of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour, especially women, 2SLGBTQIA+ and people with disabilities.

Speakers can only qualify for the IDEA Speakers Award once per event regardless of how many times they are presenting. Speakers on panels must identify themselves individually to qualify. Total Speakers Awards available are limited and are not guaranteed. Applying for the IDEA Speakers Award is encouraged and will not adversely impact invitations to speak at the conference.
